new battery causing alarm to go off
Hi-
My battery was dead yesterday so we got a new one and put it in. I have read now that you are supposed to leave it unhooked for 30 min but we didn't do that. As soon as we hook it up the alarm goes off- the horn blares constantly and the lights are on. Nothing else works, we cant start the car and the keyless entry doesn't work or to turn off the alarm. (the battery in the key is working we checked). We called the dealership and they can't give us anything new to try they said just to tow it in and they will try and fix it. Does anyone have any other ideas or know how to disconnect the alarm? Thanks.

I never heard you had to wait 30 minutes before connecting a new battery, and I sure didn't do that when I changed my battery.
What you describe isn't supposed to happen! Could you have reversed polarity or something? In reading this forum for the past 6 years, I've never heard this described here before.

I had never heard that either- it was just in another post about this same problem. I don't think we reversed the polarity- wouldn't that have blown a fuse?
