Default Finally an air filter in my RX

After almost 3 years of running without an air filter, I finally added one to my RX this morning, a V2 air filter from Weapon-R, http://weapon-r.com/english/index.ph...oducts_id=5896

In addition, I took a plastic bucket and converted it into a heat shield of sorts. Granted, this ain't the prettiest modification I have done on the air intake, but none of them ever are. I never want to spend big bucks making something if it winds up not working to my delight.

I chose this particular filter because of cost and design. It is under $60 USD after shipping is added and since I already had the MAF adapter piece from the Dragon Intake (which really sucks for power, but is a beautiful looking filter) I bought from Weapon-R 3 years ago, I really didn't need to much else.

Weapon-R makes the Secret Weapon Intake, http://weapon-r.com/english/index.ph...oducts_id=5325 which I also like, but I have an issue for doing the modification I am showing today, because the pipe they give you is too curved downward.

Nevertheless, this is what I came up with.

Here is the other side of the filter looking inward and you can see the foam behind the front of the filter.

Now you can stick a 3 inch diameter PVC pipe on to the front and it will fit snug or a 4 inch diameter piece over the top (which I will do). You will also notice my Tom's Radiator Cap in the background.

Next thing we do is remove the handle of the bucket by cutting and incision here.

Next thing is to use the back of the air filter to trace about a 3 inch diameter around the top of the bucket.

Then you can trace around the top.

And then you can ram the back of the air filter through like this.

Now, the bucket itself is about 5 inches long from top to the bottom, too big for this project since it will bump up against the edge of the fusebox, so we need to cut off about an inch off the top to make it fit.

You make the full cut around the edge.

This bucket I got at Home Depot for about $5 USD, it came in white also, but I like this color better give the color of my air filter.
