Default Need your help guys!!!!

Just noticed today something on the garage floor near the 4 wheel areas .....oily substance...but not as thick as oil......I looked underneath

and see nothing....?????

We just had our first snow so I did not know if it is just rundown from frozen water near the wheel?????

Any thoughts would be appreciated....

Sorry it it sounds like a dumb question....

If it is all 4 wheels your just seeing slop dripping from the snow.

Thanks Lexmex.......Would you see a brake fluid leak near ALL 4 tires at the same time????

The timing after the snow yesterday makes me a little suspect....

Where would I look for a brake fluid leak???

How serious could this be??
Thanks

Thanks CarGuy.......I am hoping for just slop drainage but the substance certainly looks a little bit oily....

Where would I look for a brake fluid leak???

Thanks in advance...

The first place to check would be the level in the brake fluid reservoir. If that's normal, I'd feel safe. You have to empty all the fluid in the reservoir before the braking is significantly affected. It's not possible (as far as I can imagine) for there to be a brake fluid leak without it showing in the brake fluid reservoir level.

The chance of anything leaking from all 4 wheels at the same time is almost non-existent. It's slop from the snow.

One way to conclude is by determining what has dropped in level ... so check the levels of the following ..
Brake fluid,
engine oil,
transmission.

The chances are next to nill for transmission oil at all 4 ends, but don't overlook power of deduction.

The greasy substance is the road grime mixed with ice melting chemicals. I have that too.

The brake fluid issue I have seen on vehicles due to expansion contraction lines/calipers from heat and cold, but I have seen this on some older vehicles.

Just keep an eye on it.

Glad it was only the grime/oil on the road which got kicked up with snow into the wheel wells and melted in your garage
