Default 368,000 miles

I have a 2000 RX300 and have 368,000 miles. All original except for rotors and exhaust, well, and a couple batteries and bulbs.

Default failed transmission on 2000 RX300

I'm the 2nd owner of a 2000 RX 300 which I've loved driving for 13 years. Now, at 230,000 miles the transmission has failed, and as the blue book value is around $3200, the price of the transmission (@ $3800-4500 quote) deems it a poor choice to rebuild, as I don't plan to keep the car going forward.

I've gotten a $500 quote for car to be sold for salvage, hate to do that but car is in a trans shop 6 hours from where I live; don't know what it could be worth to someone if I sold on Craig's List....but I'd have to tow it home for around $400 minimum. Any ideas?

Do you plan on replacing the car? If so, consider the cost of buying another car against the cost of a new transmission for your RX. If you really like the car, and it is in otherwise good shape, the cost of a new trans might not seem so high.

WOW!!! 368,000!!!! that is just amazing!!!. Whoever had it before you or if you are the original owner; keep doing whatever u are doing!. I somewhat hope mine gets to that kinda mileage if i hold onto long enough for it to. At this point though I will gladly take it if mine gets to 200,000 which I dont see why it shouldnt. Ive been trying to take proactive measures to make sure all the proper maintenance is being done when it should be etc.

Default 209792 miles

not as powerful as it used to be, probably something I've missed.
Fingers and toes are crossed for it to keep running
right now 2 feet of snow on the ground here.

I just bought a 2001 RX with 130,000 miles the antenna just broke everything else is okay, I ran a 1986 Toyota Cressida up to 529,000 miles in 1991 Lexus LS 400 400,000 miles now the Rx 300 up to 250,000 miles. The transmission planetary gears are singing I'm not sure what Opera but that tells me the probably go in the next 30 40,000 miles. I use Max life transmission fluid in the power steering and the transmission I change the filters and all my cars transmission at 40,000 miles I changed the oil through my transmission cooler 12 quarts a year. I am running Max life in the RX 300 hoping to get 150,000 miles that I want to put in a full on performance transmission so this will not go out. My transmission shop sends out the planetary gears and has them welded so they don't go out this is the weak point in the 300 Rx transmission. I found a shop in Huntington Beach California called DDM and tuning for LED lights they now have tail light bulbs for the R X300 using a Cree chip that is unbelievably bright at $20 each they also have backup lights using Cree chips that can light up a whole Street these are the brightest anywhere ever seen again $20 each their phone number 714 – 901 – 5080 they will soon be selling the new LED headlights for the 9006 at about $130.00 or HID lights and about $35.00 www.ddmtuning.com The tail light bulbs are as bright as any 2016 LED lights on the cars today they are totally unbelievable I do notice people back off on the brakes at night and daytime. Make sure if you go with these to ask for the Cree bulb they will know what you're talking about their plug-and-play just put them in and go.If you decide to go with the interior with LED bulbs make sure yopu ask for the brightest ones with our part number again insanely bright. I recommend the 5K for the headlights and 3K for the fog lights or 5K for the fog lights the 3K are yellow.
