i wanted to know if it's possible to fit a v8 into a 99 rx300. maybe one of the lexus v8's? possible?

100% completely custom as you have to change the engine orienation (transversely vs. longitudinally mounted) and therefore will have to cut/build a complete transmission tunnel and likely a bulk of the main firewall.

then theres the physical dimensions aspect of "WILL IT FIT?" and then getting a transmission/rear end sorted out. etc...

anythings POSSIBLE (just throw money at it!) but Plausible? not really...

Short answer, no, it is not possible. Lexus (and most other V8's) are mounted longitudinally while your RX requires a transverse mount. The V8 block is too long (and require modifying a larger transaxle capable of handling the V8's torque) to squeeze into the RX's engine bay. That would require widening the car by six or eight inches at a minimum.

Yeah, get a GX and put the RX emblem on it.

A while back I toyed with the idea of throwing an engine out of Supra into my RX, but also concluded cost and it ain't just the engine, the tranny would also need to be changed out as the current one is very insufficient for high power.

Not impossible, just big, big, big $$$.

I don't think he's on crack, but I probably am...I regularly try to think of how to put a gravity drive (a.k.a. hyperspace) on my RX300, though at such speeds I would probably blow the RX and myself to bits.

hahaha...yea i remember that thread a little while ago about putting the new 570 engine into an rx. then I thought about it..overkill. haha you really don't need a V8 in an rx. if it performed well alone w/o an engine, then i'd think of putting a v8 into it. but uh..as we all know our rx isnt an RS4 or F1 car with great handling haha.
