Default Oil usage

99 Rx300 is using lots of oil. I find it bone dry from time to time and refill it w/ Mobil 5w30 but within 400 miles it's half empty. No signs of leakage anywhere. Anyone have the same problem?

Is it burning oil?

If you dont see oil on ground, look for it in the coolant.

No, it is not a prevalent problem. In any case you need to have it looked at ... you potentially have a complete breakdown at an in-opportune moment.

If you search this forum, you will find couple of members experience the same sudden oil consumption and found the cause is oil sludge.

Solution ranges from engine replacement to cost effective Auto-RX. Use search to find the threads that discussed this topic in details.
