Very interesting, which one of the Redline ATFs by chance did you switch over to?

They sell some Redline products down here, but very expensive except for WaterWetter, some 10W40 Redline I was going to try as a test would have ended up costing me $24 USD a quart, so I'll stick with Castrol 0W30

The reason I am so curious is that we have a Redline dealer down here and he will be bringing a full line of products in 2008, I'd be interested to see how it affects my shifts.
Oh, one other thing, I told my uncle that when the guy opens my transmission to check on the other side (from where the torque converter is) that if he sees or thinks of anything that can be improved in that tranny to let me know.

I didn't notice any difference in shifting between the fluids. I was really after a higher flash point and more resistance to higher temps that I normally see because I tow a 2,000lb trailer on some weekends.

Been on this forum for years and there has been a fair number of posts on transmission failure [some say on AWD some say FWD only].
I am glad we are talking about transmission and not a medicine or a medical procedure. There are too many horror stories out on the net, that an unbiased person would not follow through with any treatment.
I think the key is to get a true random sampling ... which Lexus has. In past Lexus has done the right thing, even at cost to them. The brand name "Lexus" is worth a lot to Toyota and good bussiness practice will be to protect it.

added the following:
Transmission is a complex beast. Transmission going bad, is a loose term. The failure has to be of a component or set of common components, to be meaningful. This information is again only known to Lexus.

Transmission failed at 73k Miles. Never missed a scheduled maintenance at authorized dealer. Gharge is for $14,000 for repair. I got a 36k miles trans but got a U140E instead oforiginal U140F. Torque Coverter for U140E is smaller TO64 and older was TO83. Can still use it? They fit together but concerned about performance.
Max should be $6K. Generally folks have reported between 3K to 5K.

Please post your experience on the poll as I am getting various mixed opinions on the failure rate of these trani's.
My particular vehicle came with an extended warranty (no longer in effect) and was maintained religiously by myself and previous owner (records in car).
Here's a link by an independant consumer advocate company which has found problems with the camry trani (U140E). click on Toyota:
http://www.apa.ca/template.asp?DocID=23
I find it completely unacceptable that my Lexus happened to have a mechanical failure of an internal trani component while in my hands, specifically at 137,000 km which is well below the norm for wear and tear.
Please post your experience, which will be shared by other forum members
