The round plastic grommet that is part of the carpet. It holds the clip to keep the drivers floor mat in place. Well, it broke in half. Any one ever replace this with say a metal one that will hold up longer?

 

Just a thought: I've purchased spare mats on Ebay. They're not too expensive. The ones I've purchased were used, but in good condition.

A brass nautical-type grommet would work. I guess you'd want to paint it a matching color though.

 

I have seen metal hooks that look similar to the ones that you are talking about at Home Depot, but not sure that they would fit precisely.

 

I went into the dealer one time looking for a new one, and the parts guy had one he just gave me out of a bin. That's the only time I've ever needed one.

 

I have a brand new set of mats. And I also have the L shaped plastic clip that holds the mat to the carpet. What has broken is the 1 inch round plastic grommet. Its part of the carpet. It holds the clip. That holds the mat. It has broken in half. The top half came out with the clip. The bottom half is still inside the carpet.

 

Sorry... I misunderstood. I was talking about the L-shaped plastic hook.
