My 1999 RX300AWD has 139K with original tranny. I just drain & fill the tranny every 15k miles with Toyota type IV by myself, never open up the pan to replace &clean the filter. I've never let the corner gas station or any other mechanic touch my tranny for tranny flush.

For those RX owners that have experiencing premature transmission, Have you ever had & how often:

Tranny flush done by Toyota/Lexus?
Tranny flush done by other mechanic?
Tranny oil change (drain & fill) using Toyota Type IV?
Tranny oil change (drain & fill) using other ATF?

My wife drives a 2000 RX300 AWD. The transmission failed under warranty at about 48,000 miles. I have always changed the Type T-IV ATF every 30,000 miles. The vehicle is now approaching 110,000 miles, and the replaced transmission seems to be holding up. I continue to change the T-IV every 30,000 miles. I unscrew both drain plugs. It takes almost 5 quarts of fresh T-IV every time.

By the way, I've never been happy with the shift quality of either transmission. The replaced one shifts slightly better than the original one did, but it's still unacceptable for a vehicle that stickered for close to $40,000. My 1999 Dodge Ram pick-up shifts smoother than this RX300 does. Sad but true....
