I am cheap, so I went with a $35 open box 8 in Fire. Used a Grom Audio TOYFA1, Aux from Cd Changer port. I used a cheap phone stand and shoved it in the tape deck. I went 3.5mm over bluetooth because it was cheaper and I can add cheap bluetooth 3.5mm dongle if needed or still plug in a sony discman. Makes the head unit (tablet) able to sit in your lap and be easily replaced

I can still see the ac/heat display on the screen and the control underneath. I can turn my phone wi fi hotspot and connect for maps, TY, updates, etc.
I also added a Sub in the spire tire, that will fit in 90% of cars.

All for under $600 and most of it can be used in any car/truck.
It's not a pair of 15's but all your mirrors will vibrate and it sounds amazing for no space.
I just bought a bluetooth receiver and a receiver transmitter so will work out which one works best under $20 or have both that can connect behind dash and some 12v to 5v usb power adapters to make it work. Bought a giant 7.2 inch phone which will use to run it.
I would be concerned about the sound i as have premium stereo and know the amplification won't compete 4 x 50 watts and the output low level with be L + R and won't really cater for a a real stereo builder but as i am now an old fogy and don't care too much these days have had builds before with electronic crossover networks and splitting signals before amplification isobaric configs etc. I am wondering how crap i will put up with to be honest.

My dvd players aren't working at present might see if i can get them working before i buy anything.
But you're losing climate control and various other readouts, which for me would be too much of an inconvenience.
I'm seriously considering the previous one with the 10.1" screen.
I contacted the seller and they assured me that it would be plug and play for my car.

I have one of these.
just looks cool but do have screens in headrests pic doesn't really reveal them.
