conditioning doesn't get cold
Hi all,
I have a 2001 RX300 with about 100K miles. Last week it A/C stopped getting cold. I put the gauges on it and started the car up. The low side was at 0 psi, and the high side was around 50psi. I looked at the sight glass, and I could see bubbles, so I'm kinda stumped. Could anyone share some information on what to look for next? I'm thinking there is a leak somewhere. I got the freon sniffer out and ran it around all the fittings and didn't get a hit. With the sight glass showing bubbles, I would think there is enough freon to set off the sniffer |
those pressures are much too low. You've got a leak somewhere

Thanks for the help; all help is appreciated. I agree, I got the sniffer out but didn't have any hits. There isn't anything obvious looking at the car. If anyone has a good starting place, I'm all ears. A year or so ago, I fixed my niece's A/C by replacing a sensor in the a/c compressor. Of course, I don't know if it applies here.

Probably I would vacuum it out first and see if it can hold a vacuum for long. If it can't it's a big leak. Then charge it up with refrigerant with dye and look for a leak under UV light. Hopefully it's something easy to get at,
