Default Interesting weekend

Well, I *finally* found where the oil filter is located...that's just cruel where Toyota put it. I mean, if there is a car in need of a remote filter location, this one is it.

Least I finally changed out whatever the dealer puts in with Mobil 1 5W-30.

Also, we were on some gravel national forest roads Sunday, and after making sure my wife knew what I was about to be up to, I intentionally and gently started a four-wheel drift. About a half-second after I felt it, the VSC beeped, twice, the VSC light flashed twiced. Nice.

Where is it, and what do I need to remove to get to it? Do I need to jack the vehicle up or user ramps to get to the filter?

Default You need nothing to change it

Shockingly, I managed to get what I *know* was a dealership-applied filter off with my bare hands, even with my wrist twisted up under the front exhaust manifold. I took the front splash shield off, purely because I *could* *not* find it, anywhere. Easy to find, when looking up at it. When you have it off, before you put the new one on, make sure you feel where the threaded post is, otherwise it's frustrating to find.

Actually, with a good drain pan, you don't even need to raise the RX to do this. I didn't, but was hoping for an excuse to buy new ramps....

If you let the engine cool off enough, it migth be easier to get it off from above. If not, I'll usually take it off from below and thread the new one on from above. Kind of makes it easier for a left or right-handed person.
