Hi All,

I have a 2008 F with stock wheels and tires (19" and Potenzas) and am in need of a new set of tires since starting autocross last year. My front tires have worn out on the outside shoulders, but have even wear on the rears with tread still to spare. (Yeah, I'm plowing the car alot as I'm going in too hot in my turns - still a novice and learning.)

Any tire recommendations for autocrossing and daily driving? (Also, I've not brought the car to the track...yet.) I do live in the northern CA area so do have rain to consider during the winter months, but NO snow.

Appreciate any suggestions.

I'm going for these tires once my PS2's are worn, which will be a while considering I'm only getting maybe 4000 miles a year on the car.

Will be getting them in the following sizes.
275/30/19 rear
245/35/19 front or maybe keeping stock size of 225/40/19.

NT05s are great.. BUT THE HANKOOK RS3s are awesome. i dont know if they have that size but i am running those and the new RT615K but they only make that up to 18's that i know of. Just step up to TOYO R888's

Thanks for your reply caymandive. Do you have a different set of wheels than stock rims for those size tires? Just looked into it and they don't make them the stock sizes:
- 225/40/19 front
- 255/35/19 rear

Thanks for all the replies. Since $$ is tight for me, I'm going to have to stick with my stock wheels and shop for the right tires instead of upgrading or having another set of rims for autoX. So I just checked a few of the suggestions here and others from the Car and Driver comparison tests to the PS2's,

but unfortunately Hankook R-S3, Nitto NT05, Dunlop Direzza Sport Z1 Star Spec - ALL do not make them in the stock tire sizes - 225/40/19 front and 255/35/19 rear as an entire set of 4 tires.

I'm thinkin of the Hankook Ventus V12 evo K110 that came in second in the C/D test.

I do not have a different set of wheels other than the stock. The sizes above both fit the stock wheels very well and do not look big as you may imagine. The 275's actually look perfect on the rear wheel and do not bulge and sit flush on the rim.

Thanks again caymandive. Excuse my ignorance, but how would I know or find out - by how much I actually can go up-size without risking safety?

The rear wheels are 9" wide.
You can fit the 255's on rims with widths between 8.5" and 10". For 275's you can fit them on rim widths between 9" and 11" safely.

The front wheels are 8" wide.
You can fit the 225's on the rims with widths between 7.5" and 9". For 245's you can fit them on rim widths between 8" and 9.5" safely.

To answer your question you can usually look at the spec sheet for the tire you are interested in and it typically shows the rim width range for that particular size.
