Nice thanks for that info! Might also be a good spot to take my 90's japanese cars.

I think that might be my old TE, does the vin end in 499?

I had Stek clear bra and tinted the bumper lights, also removed the rear Lexus badge.

Ahhhh cool. I sold the TE after renting a GT3 and realizing I wanted a go cart handling car with crisp shifts so I ended up in a new 21 GT4. I babied the TE. No track days, only driven in nice weather, no kids non smoker nobody ever sat in back. I did do a big burnout before trade in that’s it. I had it for around 5400 miles.

White cars do suck with clear bra because the edges show dirt but look online and you can clean up all the edges. Car had Llumar Atx Ceramic tint but dealer may have though it would be harder to sell with the tint.

What is the headlight access sticker?

Enjoy her!

It had one of these on the left headlight. https://headlightsticker.com
Dealer lied and said that the headlight was new but that isn't the case. The headlight still has the clear bra on it. Most likely a dealer uses these for property access or whoever owned it May->July 2022 used this for access wherever they live/work. That short term owner may also have removed the tint who knows. Lexus would have removed it otherwise for certification. It now has the certification sticker in the door jamb but I didn't buy it certified given I plan to mod it.

How much did they give you for trade-in? Where/when was it traded in?

Lol made me laugh!

The sticker wasn’t from my ownership.

I traded it in Jan 30 2021 to Porsche Bellingham in Wa state for $88,500. They had it forsale for over a year started at $99k down to $88k. One evening Lexus of Seattle called me and asked me some questions about the car and saying it was headed to them and I stated I sold it and they said it was on a flatbed headed to there dealership. It was a weird call but maybe the Porsche dealer was utilizing my name or warranty to get free towing to the dealer. Shortly after it was removed from their inventory so I assumed it sold.

Enjoy the car and I look forward to your post and modifications.

Thanks for the info! Sounds like by purchasing at 83k I got it at a good price relative to your trade-in. First round of basics ordered tonight. Still debating on lowering springs vs coilovers to maybe retain factory dynamic/active dampening.

Might create a new thread to document the build given this started as a purchase decision thread. Or maybe it makes sense to keep the story going on here. Not so sure how to handle that. Also looking at tire options. So far 18x10 wheels ~35mm offset with 285/35ZR18 or 295/30ZR18 on all 4 wheels is the direction things are headed.

Also got this info from Loi for tuning the 2020 ecu.

Installing the supercharger will depend on the ability to tune the car. I inquired with both vex motorsports where Loi occasionally tunes cars and thedriveway.us about installing the kit. Both of them pretty much were hesitant because of the tune situation. A friend of mine has purchased a spare 2020 ecu from the dealership and sent it to Matt from VF tuner to look at cracking the ecu so we’re all waiting on news regarding that.

Took a drive tonight and tried the eco mode with ~15 miles of mixed freeway and city driving. I only hit 2 traffic lights given it was ~1am.

Atkinson cycle seems to be working as expected and I achieved decent mpg over those 15 miles.

26.2 mpg is almost exactly 9L/100km for those using human-readable units

Likely the last time I will make any effort to conserve fuel in this car.

Also took a more spirited drive around the Bay Area last night including the Bay and Golden Gate bridges and ended up with the following G-force graph.

Thanks to the first owner for taking care of breaking in the car for me

Also I’ve driven 500 miles so far since purchasing it Saturday.

Last order of the night and then headed to bed. Sprint booster!

Also hoping to find time to hardwire my front/rear dashcams and uniden R7 detector tomorrow. Driving without protection isn’t ideal. I have that hardware laying around so no orders for those.

I have had SprintBooster v3 for almost two years now. With the RR Racing tune, it also supposed to greatly enhances the throttle response, but I still kept my SprintBooster even after I got the ECU tune. It is amazing in how it makes the rear end feel on the edge with how much throttle response is available in the first half of the throttle travel. I usually use red (race model) level 4 or level 5 at the most. Never tried red (race) model level 9 as it would be too much.

Just a word of caution, the plug connecting the throttle position sensor with the ECU, can be frustrating to unplug, but after many frustrating attempts I eventually got it unplugged. It was easy after that.

I wrote a little bit about it in this post:

My friend told me about it and showed me his in his RC-F so it wasn’t hard to convince me to buy.

Order spree continues tonight. RR-racing penske coils incoming. Waiting on their input for wheel/tire fitment given the different coil configuration in the rear but so far it’s leaning towards volk racing TE37SL 18x10 +39mm with toyo proxes R888R 295/30R18.

when you hardwire the Dashcam, you might need this extended fuse cover. Works great...:

Seller uses 3d printer and quality material, he sells @ Etsy ...

Thanks for pointing this out! I was running without a fuse cover in my previous RC-F given the lack of clearance for fuse taps.
