Yeah, the simple rule is when you are applying brakes, click the downshift paddle a few times until you hear a beep, which means you have hit the lowest gear for the speed range you are in. While breaking in, make sure your revs are below 5500 rpm I believe. You will start to recognize the right gear you need to downshift just by the sound of the engine.

When I first moved to VA, I lived in Ashburn. It's amazing in 12+ years how much they've developed it. The roads here aren't too bad which is nice. Wish I could say the same now about 66 and the freaking mine field that it is with all the construction that they are doing...smh.
Those guys doing infinite construction on road 66, and road quality is so bad. There are cracks in each lane, I need to put my wheels either left side of crack or right side of crack ;(

I know it's not a good idea 😂, will take a break every 1 or 1.5 hour and try to avoid constant speed.

Long distance trips aren't bad for break-in. I did it with my first Lexus when I drove from LA to SF with a group of our guys for the End of Summer Meet many many many many years ago. The trick is not to use the cruise control. Vary the speed and rpm when possible.

The engine had a complete redesign when they made the RCF. It shares almost nothing with the ISF engine other than the bottom block, which is why no parts are swappable with the ISF. Therefore, hopefully that issue would not be the case. I have not seen the valley plate issue in an RCF so far in high mileage ones.

Thanks for sharing. Hopefully, that is an isolated case considering RCFs have been around for 6+ years.

Back to this for just a second because someone in the RC facebook group bought a 2020 ML stereo and now has android auto. Said he used part number: 86120-24A10.
What would be different on the RC compared to the RCF that one would work on the other but not be compatible with the RCF..etc?

It's all programming. If the part# they used superseded the prior part. 2021 RC F was the first year for Android Auto and Gen 11 telematics.

Is it safe to assume that if I got a 2021 Mark Levsonson multimedia receiver and pulled my 2020 and put the 2021 in it would work and have AA/Apple CP? Do we know if the connections would all match up?
The person on the FB group said that that the part number I listed above was the same for both 2019 and 2020 but when he swapped it he now has AA where with his unit from 2019 he didn't.
When you say Gen 11 Telematics are you referring to just the stereo/multimedia receiver or is it also things like antennas and gps..etc.

Now it makes sense. Love the car but just annoyed still that the next year or in my case when I got it, months later AA was standard...lol
I guess I can always look at the grom unit. the 2020 is a weird year I guess with the infotainment having Apple CP, most aftermarket add on units are up to 2019 and mention nothing of 2020 since it already has Apple CP. I'd just want to add the AA.
Appreciate you clarifying! This at least has me more than likely less to look into an OEM unit and be out the $1k+ or more trying to find a used ($3k+ new) multimedia receiver.

Contracting timing and submission to legal was a big part of it. Who owns the data, where does it go...etc. Once approval gets past legal, changes are made. Toyota is a very conservative company, but for good reason.

ahhhh gotch ya. I was not aware that the RC was on the Gen11 stuff. I still don't understand why Lexus does the things they do. RC is cheaper yet comes with a better multimedia system. You think it would be the same for the RCF. Seems so strange to me that between the two one is on one system while the other is on something else. This reminds me of Mercedes and AMG line ups. They normally get depending on the model the infotainment system that is under the normal model or from the previous gen..etc. So you end up paying more for an AMG but had an outdated infotainment system than the same model but different (much cheaper trim level)..
Now it makes sense. Love the car but just annoyed still that the next year or in my case when I got it, months later AA was standard...lol
