The guy that had his resonator installed back in because of drone ALSO deleted his mufflers. He is now running Invidia + muffler delete. No wonder there was drone...Invidia with muffler and reso deleted will drone like a ****. Sounds like reso delete may be the way to go. So far the only videos I've seen are of start ups, and one in-cabin WOT.
Thanks man. Much appreciated. Did the owner experience any torque loss at the low end? When I installed Invidia, the great thing was that I felt power gain everywhere immediately. I am wondering if some low end torque loss is experienced? Did you hear any clips from this owner?

Nothing about torque loss. I'll ask, though it's a 32-week old post haha. Don't know until you try though.

Thanks man. Really appreciate it. It is my family joy ride as well so I want to make sure it makes sense when I have my two little kids in the back seat and wife as passenger LOL

He said that if there was any torque loss he doesn't feel it. Felt power gain after installation, but no power loss after removal of resonators.

Thank sounds very promising. If you hear a clip, please do let me know what do you think of the sound. Thanks.

There's a dyno shop near me. Might run a dyno on stock, Invidia, then Invidia + resonator delete when the time comes.

Been skimming through results on the FB group and haven't found any more videos, only a couple cold starts. Someone mentioned that the Apexi non-resonated is louder than Invidia's non-resonated. Not sure if that's a gauge of loudness but I'd probably expect it to be as loud as a Borla, but with a higher pitch or more "tuned" sound. The only WOT video was in-cabin of someone going under a bridge. Most exhausts sound very raspy, whereas the sound signature on this one was more of a deep slap than a tinn-y rasp. Somewhat similar to the LC500 signature but louder. Again, just going off of information given and zero first-hand experience.

Yeah. I remember someone who got a non-resonated version of Apexi and it had so much drone that the person returned it and got the resonated version. That is the great thing about Invidia that there is zero drone. Still from what you are saying, it sounds like it does not mess with the amazing acoustic quality and only enhances it a bit. My car has been stored for next spring so hopefully by the time next spring/summer comes around, I will have a very clear picture (and possibly you might have experimented with it). If all sounds as you described then I would definitely go the resonator delete route as long as it is not obnoxiously loud or drony. Maybe, another 5 - 10% more clearer sound would be perfect.

I think I have that post saved on FB. I remember reading it multiple times searching for "non resonated Invidia". The one part that is stopping me is that when he says
"I was tripping out and unsure because of cabin drone and whatnot, but it’s not bad at all."
I'm interpreting that as there is now "some" cabin drone which was not present when the resonators were there. I ended up buying a second invidia mid pipe because I want to test this theory.. I need to find an exhaust shop that does quality work that will cut the resonators off then weld in s/s piping so it looks good. (My biggest pet peeve with exhaust work is that when they cut and weld back in, it doesn't look factory. It looks like an after thought). That way I can swap my resonated Invida mid pipe with the one that doesn't have resonators and see how it sounds. If it's bad then I just put the other one and it's done and sell this to someone. I don't want drone and I don't want rasp. Both of which are not exsistant

I will note that everyone that I have talked to that has the non resonated Apexi mid pipe says it drones at certain rpms/mph.... Some say it's ok/not bad/ manageable, others have said they did not like it. I don't believe people that say there is no drone. I've also read people stating they went from the non-resonated Apexi to the resonated Apexi mid pipe for that reason because it was not enjoyable.

Sound is a super touchy subject since what is annoying AF to one person might be pure bliss for someone else. 15 years ago I put a catless turbo back exhaust on my STi. It sounds insane from the outside. I love it. Inside it's loud. Loud to the point that after 30 minutes you want to put some type of ear plugs in. I was in my mid twenties... I just accepted that's what it was. Now at 40, when I get into my STi, I still like the sound but it's too much. It's way too loud for me and it's probably one of the reasons why I don't do long trips with it... IE: I go to the gym and back to my house which is 1.5mile trip each way. I'm now in the process of sourcing a nice exhaust that is quality but isn't as loud or drony...etc. Some people say get a valved exhaust but that's another thing that could potentially fail and I also hate the fact that almost all valved exhausts have clamp on tips... Which if I'm honest looks really tacky to me. You spend $3k+ for and exhaust why not weld the tips on?? (I get the whole adjustability/rear diffuser..etc.) It just looks too Autozone/Walmart clamp on muffler tip cheapness to me.

Definitely, a tiny bit of drone is not an issue, but drone that is present a lot of times while cruising albeit less than say, Apexi non-resonated is still more than what most of us would hope for.

ooo where were you able to buy just the midpipe? Does the RC3xx midpipe fit the RCF axle back?

Found this video:

At about 20 seconds is the cold start of invidia with no resonators. Later in the video he has headers, which make it too loud in my opinion.

I wish there was a way to get the videos off the facebok page. Since the videos are private you can't pull them off.

anakratis:
I ended up finding a guy some what local that just wanted the rear invidia mufflers, he kept his stock mid pipe and had a shop make it work with the new mufflers. Ended up picking up the mid pipe from him which I can assume probably paid for his exhaust shop work..lol.
To be honest I am not sure on the rc300/350 mid pipe. I am guessing no, since it's probably 2.5" and the RCF is 2.75".

In the one video in the FB group the one guy does state that with the resonator delete and headers that it's a love or hate about the rasp. Rasp is definitely introduced. It's hard to tell from the videos how much louder the exhaust is without the resonators though. I am happy with the sound of the invidia but all the videos and people said it's a very quiet exhaust, which honestly it's not that quiet when you hear it from the outside. It's definitely got some growl to it.

Thanks Nigel. Judging strictly by the cold start video, looks like it is pretty similar to the Invidia with the resonator. Did not see any difference (which is a good thing since it means under load it would not be that much louder than with resonators). Wish there were a few rev-up videos. I don't plan on doing headers anyway so it is a non-issue for me.

Here is my video with Invidia full exhaust including resonators. Sounds exactly like the one in the video you posted with resonators deleted (except I have more echo due to being in the garage)

Very surprised to see there are no fly-bys or acceleration vids on the non-resonated Invidia, even on the FB group. May someone be blessed by the YouTube algorithm gods. Also not sure if I'd want Google controlling the ignition hahah.

I think this'll do it.

Figured out how to record audio from system with Loopback lol. This is a launch with Invidia + muffler delete. Same guy that deleted both reso and muffler and said it was too drone-y and too loud. Now he just has muffler delete. Also says that muffler delete is louder than resonator delete. But it sounds pretty damn good. Disclaimer: this is not my video

Thanks for posting. That sounds amazing especially as it adds more bass to the sound, but I would not definitely go down that route as I love the looks of the Invidia especially with the burnt blue tips. I wonder the resonator delete + Invidia would be a bit quieter than that, which is good since I only wish for Invidia to be a tiny bit louder.
