Default Strg Wheel Clock Spring malfunction ? ('16)

First time asking question. Be nice. I screwed up (at least I think so).
RCF 2016 carbon TVD, under fac warranty til 12/2020.
What: Changed steering wheel to E Wong carbon fiber
Then: ** Blinker won't cancel. Blind spot monitor (BSM System Warning) won't work. PCW warning ON. 'Trac Control off" symbol. (no cruise control)
Yes, All steering wheel buttons work fine. No codes stored in OBD II.
Why? While pulling OEM steering wheel, a wire snagged the plastic housing underneath and POP!, dragged the upper half of clock spring off. Stuff flew all around and the white spiral wire unwound. Took my time re-winding the wire strip, centering it in the middle of its "5 turns". Tried to figure out the little retainer / spring and finally got them to click in.
(Battery was out of the car 3 days.)
Lots of warning lights / malfunctioning stuff.
Now do what?
Take it all apart again and figure out the turn signal cancellation? Go online, buy a new Lexus clock spring assembly ($530) and drop it in? Drop it off at the dealer and let them run up the credit card? Is there an exploded diagram to that shows how everything is supposed to line up in the clock spring housing?
Thanks,
Paul

Holy cow dude that’s major bummer. Glad I didn’t have issue like that when I swapped wheels.
Guessing the clock spring isn’t aligned properly if you got lots-o-lights on the dash since the rest of the install is fairly easy.
I’d try winding it again.

Sounds like a question for Mr Lobux.
Lance, care to chime in?
Techstream got pics on how to wind the ribbon?

  • Small cracks

OK: No defects are found.

Sounds pretty fragile if you ask me. Send me a PM for details.

Picked up a new clock spring unit at Lexus/Grapevine, TX today. They aggressively searched to price match the lowest price online. (Cool!)

Bottom line: Humpty cannot be put back together again. Compared old and new on the counter and could see how loose and internally floppy my old, hacked-back-together messed up one was. There are 5 small rollers inside that “scroll through” the wire ribbon; a little plastic window showed mine was off compared with location of new; pics to follow. It is not worth trying to re-live here.

Like previous post mentions, if you break ANYTHING on or around the clock spring unit (tabs, clips, springs) while changing the steering wheel, you are heading to the parts counter.

...all the King’s horses and all the King’s men...Couldn’t put the Lexus part back together again.

Was it a brand new clock spring from the dealer or a used one off of Fleabay?
