Default RCF TE Carbon Ceramics

My new TE was silent on pickup and now I have around 800 miles. At times when taking off from a stop or after applying the brakes I get a groan/honk sound and it also happens when turning the steering wheel or entering/exiting driveways. Usually slow speeds and foot is not on the brake pedal.

The sound doesn’t bother me but wondering if it’s normal. I am guessing it’s the pads or pins releasing and making the sounds...

The only car I have driven with ccbs was a Porsche and they were quite but after searching the BMW guys had a lot of the same noises it sounds like..

Yes, it is completely normal especially with carbon ceramic brakes. You can see the same thing with the LFA as well (where these brakes came from) as in videos, they tend to squeal especially when cold. My standard RCF brakes squeal every once in a while especially when cold. Even Porsche GT3 CCBs have the same squealing.

I tried searching for Lfa stuff on forums and YouTube but nothing. I have no squeaks yet but definitely groans.

hahahah

Did you bed the pads?
If not, do so & see if different.

I have done a few aggressive stops or slow downs from higher speeds and seemed to help for a few until brakes cooled then they were louder groans.

Porsche even went as far as making a video about it (squealing, that is).
