Default 2020 RCF Black Moldings

If anyone has recently seen my posts showing my RCF customized with Genuine Lexus parts. My latest project is adding the black moldings that are on the roof rails and around the side quarter window. I know that they can be painted or even masked. I choose to use the factory moldings. It is only four parts. Two roof rail moldings, Left and Right, and both quarter windows(molding included). Parts retail at $655.00. I will have my Lexus dealer install them in a couple of weeks. My personal opinion is that they should have been standard on all RCF’s from day one. I will post the after photo.

Default 2020 RCF Black Moldings Done!

Here’s the first photos of my RCF with the new black moldings installed. They look awesome in person. Total price including installation $1,405.71($130.00 of that sales tax) and included new roof rail weatherstrips I didn’t really need to replace but I did anyway at a cost of $330.00. I know that some of you think that I am completely crazy for this molding swap but now that it’s finished, I’m completely satisfied. Lexus Of Seattle treated my RCF with Extra Special Care thanks to Mark and Paul. Yes these black moldings should have been original equipment on 2015-19 RCF’s but it’s also gratifying that Lexus fixed their mistake(in my opinion).

So you're paying $655 for black replacement moldings to get rid of the chrome? I wrapped mine, cost maybe $75.

agree it should be black, I did choke a little on that price to correct their ridiculous decision to make it chrome.

I looked at doing this also but once I saw that the quarter window molding was integral to the window I cancelled that idea. What will labor cost for the dealer to change everything out?

Here’s the part numbers and price for the parts. I’m not sure what installation will cost but I’ve got $90K into my RCF so price is not really that bad. My Lexus dealer gives me a discount on parts.

Why is one window so much more than the other side?

I have no idea. I didn’t argue. You can have your Lexus dealer quote prices but this is what Lexus of Seattle charged me. Paid for parts before installation. Appointment is in three weeks because I don’t drive my RCF in the rain and it’s in the forecast for the week two plus weeks.
I decided to purchase these instead of painting or wrapping them because I am a stickler for detail. When I spent over $4,000 for the orange brake calipers was told that I should just paint my black calipers and put the “F” sticker on it. I had my calipers installed in January of 2016 and no paint or decals have deteriorated with all the wash’s otherwise they would look crappy now instead of still looking new. Parts designed to withstand the elements for more than a couple months is the reason for purchasing the genuine Lexus parts.

I'm debating this as well. I did it on my bmw 335. It's not difficult just time consuming. At least it was for the 335, door panels off etc. I got a quote for for the parts which was about 500. I'll try to look up a install for it to see what it's like. Make sure to share pictures. Also is it gloss or matte black?

Gloss black. Looks great. I’ve attached photos of the left hand side of the parts. They will be installed in the next few weeks and I will post photos of the finished project.

The rubber seal strips are also included

Looks like it snaps into the body. I’m not sure if you have to use a sealer or not. My Lexus dealer is doing the installation.

Looks good bud! Can't wait to see the final result. I would doubt a sealant is used. The rubber seal that comes with it will seal everything. The trim has clips so you have to be careful when popping it off with a trim tool. The panels have to be taken off as well.
