Default Rotor/pad upgrades

Hello all, I have a 2015 RC-F with 30k miles on it. The dealer is saying my pads need to be replaced and front rotors. They're charging an arm and a leg. Does anyone have experience or recommend going with aftermarket pads and rotors (full set). I don't track the car at all. The dealer was telling me going with aftermarket pads and rotors will cause squeaking issues. I'm just looking for a good set of rotors and pads that don't sqeak bad and also provide less dust buildup. Thank you

Oh, I doubt your rotors are gone. Also the rear pads last much longer than the fronts. As far as brake noise, depends on the bedding procedure you follow and your choice of pads. Your dealer is FUD.

If you purchased this car new, and drove it "spirited" most of the time, then you may, and probably will, need new front rotors and pads. If you drove it in "normal" mode most of time, you might not need new front rotors, but just pads. If you bought your car used, then not knowing how the previous owner drove this car, buying new front rotors may, and probably be necessary. If you don't know how to visually check the rotors for wear, get your rotors checked by a local mechanic, or better yet, have the dealership show you the wear on the rotors, and how they compare to the wear specification numbers for replacement. Note: these are Brembo brakes, used everywhere, so rotors, and/or pads, can be easily replaced by any competent brake place for a lot less than the Lexus dealership will charge you.

Thanks to you both. Lou that is 100% my fault for not searching better on the subject. Bob, I checked the pads and they are at 2mm. As for the rotors there is a lip on the top of the rotor that seems deep when I rub my finger across the rotor. Compared to my rears that it. I'll look better tomorrow during the day.

I switched out my front and rears with RR Racing 2pc rotors and Endless MX72 pads. No problems here. Some others have had good luck with the Project Mu pads. Brakes on these cars are not cheap unfortunately, but there are a few options. Just depends on if you want to upgrade or pay stealership OEM prices.
