Default TVD Service Interval(?!?!?!)

I just took a long look at the maintenance requirements for the TVD on the 2015 RC F and discovered there is not even one recommended differential oil change period, and the TVD clutches (separate units for left and right) use WS ATF and also have no mention whatsoever in the maintenance schedule. TIS does have a defined procedure for changing these fluids, unlike the AA80E transmission with its "lifetime" fill from the factory which has no clearly defined procedure for changing the fluid. But there is no recommended change interval.

Does anyone else see this as odd?

FWIW, non-TVD differentials have a 60k mile oil change interval.

I’ve changed mine at 10k, then again recently at 22k.

I wanted to get the break in debris out plus for curiosity.
At 10k it looked decent. Not much metal in it, unlike the main diff which had a good bit of metal flakes and general sludge like build up.

The second time, 12k miles and like 10 or so track days more, fluid literally looked brand new in the diff and the two tvd pods.
Although I didn’t test the oil, felt pretty good about it.
Prob wont change it again till like 50k.

Had a friend blow his up, because he is very hard on the car break JUST before 50k miles. The replacement was going to cost over $20,000 if he didnt have it under warranty

not sure on just the clutch packs or if they come with the shaft, but if together looks like 2300 to 2600 each .

Holly! That thing is expensive.

Yeah, I would like to find out as well when I should have the TVD serviced. It does not make sense to have the same fluid for the lifetime (I believe, M3 M-DCT fluid was the same thing, but owners got the fluids replaced anyway). I will check with the dealership for the upcoming service/maintenance inspection.

Hahaha. You mean he wishes he drives like Ken Block.

I bet if he had serviced those clutches around 10k and got out the break-in crud, the results would be very different.

I'd be curious to know that as well. No service seems odd on it considering its cost and that it does experience wear.

Any idea what the symptoms were and what the failure mode was?

Looks like amayama has it for $7254. Not sure what shipping would cost. https://www.amayama.com/en/part/toyota/4110029005

Wouldn't that fall under the 72mo/70k powertrain warranty or does he have over 70k on the odo?

Check it and cry. This is for the entire unit with both left and right electrically managed clutches. $19+k.
