Intake https://m.ebay.com/itm/Top-Speed-Pro...kAAOSw1RVaeMC4 What do you guys think of this? Looks good. I know there's no gains, but does it look like the diameter is too small for the throttle body? Would hate to slap it on and worsen performance and waste $200. |
Hi, I am new to this Forum. I too was looking at the Carbon Fiber air intake. It looks awesome and I am sure it will bring out a really good sound. I have a 1989 BMW M3 with an entire Carbon Fiber air box setup. It sounds amazing. So for sound I am sure you would love it. I ended up getting a K&N Air Intake and Filter and IT is larger that the stock elbow. If you end up getting it let me know how it sounds. One thing about Carbon Fiber, make sure the inside of the elbow is completely smooth. You don't want the air getting caught up in corners.
Just bought myself a 2016 RC F. It was a hard decision since I was also looking at the Alfa Quadrofoglio. Reliability and serviceability prevailed on my end I think. Hope this helps. |
Thanks for sharing!
Congrats on the car. I think you will like the car. It tends to grow on you and you start appreciating small details. I've had mine for over two years and still excited to drive it everyday. |

RR Racing has a set up - advantage that it eliminates valve cover venting into the intake. Look at http://www.rr-racing.com/RR-Racing-C...rcfitk0004.htm.

i have the same set up, with a Apexi filter, it’s only for cosmetics , Just using an aftermarket filter just as good with the stock hose. There was another intake sticky saying since the rcf/gsf engine has a good stock design as is. |

No it does not

As a HUGE fan of Carbon Fiber I really do love that look, however-why not open up the entire Intake System itself (The Box) Though Ive seen multiple posts where people have "Heard" that using a full intake system actually loses Hp instead of making gains. I've yet to find a Member here who can personally attest to this themselves though. Posted this one in my Exhaust Thread:
https://www.vividracing.com/afe-powe...151915839.html Obviously it isn't that nice carbon fiber intake tube , but does have the CF Boxed Face. This all depends on whether or not I go with the Armitryx CAT Back system. Or not...... |

You won't get any gains, but as you eluded the exhaust side is restricted. If you look at the stock setup it has a snorkel up front that gets cold dense air. If you open completely, then all the air you get is from the hot engine bay. I'm no mechanical engineer, but I think that would mess up the Dynamics of the air flow. Just my thought. |

Just to be clear, you know the system you linked attaches back to the factory box, it's not completely open, right?

As I've stated in other threads, I use a "Closed Box" CAI in my Dodge Diesel - which does exactly what you stated above, Sucks in the Cold (Cooler) Air than what is under the hood. Granted, I cannot associate my diesel engine to what we have here, but wish I had a photo of the setup to illustrate for you (I'll locate and attach) Forgive my misguided link - I'm not 100% sure on what I was saying, and do agree that it works against the Cold Air principle. One could search near & far on this topic which can be explained easier by professionals. This helped me a bit, despite it going way off topic on your nice Carbon Fiber Tube (apologies) :eek1: https://www.carsdirect.com/aftermark...ves-horsepower |

Carbon vs Blue
What do you guys think of this?
I know there's no gains, but does it look like the diameter is too small for the throttle body? Would hate to slap it on and worsen performance and waste $200. Was just looking at your Ebay selection and saw one that comes with a K&N Air Filter too: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Top-Speed-P...FaeMWI&vxp=mtr Since they are more for looks than anything, I was drifting toward this Takeda one. Note: This one connects to the OEM Airbox unlike the other one I posted earlier. https://www.ebay.com/itm/aFe-Takeda-...haqFb9&vxp=mtr We all know that Chinese Companies make Knock Offs of just about everything imaginable on eBay. One cant resist the opportunity to buy something cool that literally is HALF the cost of something from Vendors that work off here. (Speaking about Carbon Fiber Accessories) Not sure what color your RCF is LXDSO- but don't ya think you absolutely need one of these?? :D https://www.ebay.com/itm/1-64-Kyosho...kAAOSwUIFax8EQ |
