I know this is old but I finally compared the lap times between the two cars and WOW a 9 second gap!!! The Camaro weighs about 215 lbs more than a torsen-diff RC F and comes with better shocks, brakes, and tires than the regular SS. The Camaro also produces more torque. It's not like the RC F isn't equipped with comparable brakes although the Camaro has wider tires and probably better shocks. In a straight line, I've stayed neck to neck with an SS 1LE but a 9 second gap is an eternity on a track. It's also 5 seconds faster than a regular M4. It takes the 130K M4 GTS to best it. Is the chassis on the Camaro that much better than RC F because the weight and power is definitely not the reason for a 9 second gap.
the chassis on the camaro SS new model is VERY good. ugly and cheap looking underneath the car, but it is good performance wise. it should come with more power on that chassis for the SS IMO.
To add more salt to the wound, the V6 Chevy Camaro 1LE is documented to be faster than the Lexus IS-F, GS-F, and RC-F at VIR (as noted on Car and Driver's Lightning Lap records).
What are the difference between the RC F and the RC F GT Concept? I know there's about 700 lbs weight savings, aero upgrades and slightly more power. Did they stiffen the chassis? It seems the RC F was always stiff because of the IS C core of the chassis. How does that all that translate to the 2nd best all-time lap, just slightly behind the 918 Spyder? If some of that stuff can get to the RC F ex: M3 Competition pack is lot of stuff from the M4 GTS, then maybe the RC F can get better track performance.

i wish the would make a light weight rcf for civilians
It is not street legal so it is missing a lot of safety equipment and does not need to comply with NHTSA regulations. Added roll cage etc. 918 is street legal so it is not an apples to apples comparison.

Yeah that's true. The RC F GT Concept definitely not street legal. Maybe they could find a few pounds of weight savings and release it to the public.
This is nothing new. American muscle has been the best performance bang for the buck for years. If anyone purchased a RC F thinking they were getting the best bang for the buck performance then they didn't do their homework.
The RC F offers a lot in this price range that can't be found anywhere else. If I have to list it all then you don't know your car and you probably don't even know why you bought it.
If I only cared about pure performance bang for the buck I would buy a Z06.

Maybe the Frankenstein chassis of the RC F plays a very important role in the cars inability to match the Camaro. Don't get me wrong, the Camaro wasn't even on the list of cars I was considering. It was between this or the M4. Hate the sound of the M4 and love the looks and reliable reputation of the RC F plus I got a much better deal than any I could get a for an M4.

I'm extremely skeptical of anything I read in a magazine or online when it pertains to our vehicles. It appears that there is a large group of "enthusiasts" that are only out to smear the RC F.
