Default my brake pedal goes klunk klunk

lately my RC-F brake pedal has been making a klunking sound when I release it, like from a stop at a light.. take my foot off the brake to move to accelerator and KLUNK, even my kid said something about how loud it was this morning..

anyone else have this issue in their RC-F, it sounds as if the pedal is bouncing when released. going in for my 15K oil change next week and plan to have it looked at, just curious if anyone else has this issue.

The only time I ever notice anything from the brakes is when I park it in the garage right after driving in the rain. 12 hours later the brake pads are usually rusted to the rotors and I often have to apply throttle to get them to break free. It makes a clunk... Other than that... nothing else. But I don't think that's what your issue is.

no this is the pedal, it's springing back after my foot comes off, and it's very loud.

Have the same sound too. Especially you let off pedal too fast. I think it's normal.

While I have no idea what is making the sound (though it sorta sounds like the hydraulic piece is empty), it's clearly NOT normal as was suggested above. That would drive me bonkers. Let us know what it turns out to be when the dealer fixes it!

no this is more of a spring back sound, like it is popping up too fast or hitting something.

did my 20K service yesterday and had this looked at, dealer said there was excess play in the pedal, but there is no adjustment to fix it.. they looked at 1 new and one used RC-F on the lot and agreed that my pedal was more "springy" and loose than those, but without replacing the whole assembly there isn't anything they can do.

at this point I am going to live with it, if it gets worse I will address it again.

There's a little too much play between this green plastic and the brake light switch, I just looked into this now as I've noticed mine is making the same noise but I never really had time to look what it is until now.

So, you can adjust the brake light switch position by loosening the lock nut and turning the switch. You'd have to disconnect the wire from the switch first so you don't twist it, but I couldn't reach it without removing the panel right below it. I just went ahead and cut a small piece of plastic cap and placed it on the green plastic piece, I used 3m double stick tape to keep it in place. This was enough to eliminate the bouncing noise of the pedal when released abruptly. I realized this delays brake light activation by about 1/16" of pedal travel (thickness of plastic cap) but it's not enough to affect safety, in my opinion.

No problem, I hope it helps. I know on some cars, even older cars I've had, this bumper is made of firm rubber. I bet something like that will dampen the noise even more.
