Carbon Fiber Roof - Can Take A Lick'en
I've heard some say that our paint and windshield are soft, and I agree, but our CF roof can take a lick'en.
Right in front of my finger is a hairline crack. Not sure how deep it goes, but I can feel a ridge.
Here's the glass object that caused the crack. Weighing in at 16oz (1 lb)
Here's where the object is supposed to be attached to.
Here's where the object fell from. About 6' high!
This could have turned out much worse, so I'm felling kind of lucky. The plastic cage that's supposed to hold the glass cover onto the light fixture broke apart, thus the glass cover came crashing down on the roof.
When I came out to get in my car this morning, I notice some debris on my roof. I looked up and saw the light on with part of the plastic cage dangling. I then looked to the other side of my roof and saw the glass cover. My heart sank as I then knew what happened and was expecting to see some serious damage. Fortunately, this hairline crack is all that's visible. I just hope the crack doesn't go all the way through the clear coat to where water can penetrate the clear coat and into the CF. Or spread like a windshield crack.
I think by leaving the light on for a few days got the glass cover too hot, and in turn, weakened the plastic cage that surrounds and holds the glass cover to the fixture. I'm renting, so I don't have any history, just speculating.

Last time I checked, it's made with the same amount of scrutiny and quality as what they stuffed onto the LFA with a $13K price tag from Toyota if you ever needed to order a replacement. A must have option on the RCF imo.

Absolutely, definitely not going back on!
Good point with the resin. I'll measure the length of the crack and periodically re-measure to see if it grows, and if so, bring it in for some resin.
