switch in the NX F Sport, which looks like a volume switch therefore audio played. But posted earlier it says RCF gets it in Sport+ mode only, so it sounds like an on/off valve in the piping if its like the LFA. If so I bet you could pull a fuse to keep it open all the time

Common misconception. I suspect it is on the INTAKE not the EXHAUST. That would be deadly.

LFA piping is for intake noise ,pipes low frequencies to your feet, high frequencies to your head.

Following BMW's lead, if you want to call it that, Lexus has equipped the NX 200t F Sport with Active Sound Control, which uses a little dial to the bottom right of the steering wheel to adjust how much synthesized engine noise is pumped into the cabin using a specific speaker. We tried it, and it does increase the amount one hears the simulated powerplant, but we can't help but view it as 100 percent, completely and unequivocally unnecessary, especially for a Lexus crossover.
That quote is from the Autoblog first drive of the NX200t. Key word in those text for me is "simulated"

Posted earlier I said it was mentioned a throatier sound will be produced in Sport +

LFA is ALL real sound.. w/ flaps both in the intake & exhaust piping opening at 3,000 RPM for performance
Yamaha created the intake Surge Tanks with piping, bringing the sound into the cabin upper & lower locations.
(Toyota did something similar with one cabin pipe in the FRS)

The IS F has additonal intake sound via the dual flap that opens at 3,600 rpms

The RC F will also have the same intake flap..

What we have left, is to see is how they will use ASC to create a throatier sound in cabin..

Also, I found this for the NX describing the ASC with some more detail... Again for the NX

We will have to wait to see how exactly "ASC" will be used in the RC F....

well that's why i asked about the clarification. if lexus uses the same ASC but different systems, that's very confusing. at the same time i really hope lexus doesn't do artificial sound creation on this car, unnecessary.

I've got to believe that they did it the right way...again, we should all know soon enough. As soon as it launches, I am expected a tidal wave of test drive reviews.

NX has to use simulated because turbo neuters your sound, hence why it has a volume ****

I can tell you that most journalists are NOT easily manipulated.

My dealership has actually complained to Lexus corp that their customers know more about the RCF than they do.

LOL. They shouldn't be complaining to corp, they should take the initiative to READ THE INTERNET. They're in it for the sale, they're not enthusiasts.

I think the main problem is that this is synthesized and not natural. We'll all still love the car sure, but something like this just doesn't seem right

Maybe the RCF will feature exhaust sounds from an M4 to assure owners they made the right decision.
