It has to do with optics. Clear coats will have the same paint imperfections and damage regardless of the underlying base coat color. But black paint absorbs light and all the imperfections and damage that are on the clear coat becoming extremely visible to the naked eye. In contrast, white paint reflects light and the imperfections and damage in the clear coat can't be easily seen to the naked eye. Silver tends to be the easiest color to maintain b/c it reflects light like white paint does but unlike white which creates a lot of contrast to anything not white (like dirt) on the surface, the contrast b/w silver and surface dirt is less visible than on a white car. So a light silver does the best job at hiding imperfections in the clear coat and blending with surface dirt.

The downside to white, silver, or light colored cars is that b/c the paint reflects so much light you can't really get depth in the paint that a black or dark colored car would give you. Its for this reason that using a wax on a white or light colored car is a waste, better to use a sealant. Wax on a black or dark colored car is a must to get that deep rich look.

In short, avoid black or dark colored cars unless you can either 1) live with all the dirt and imperfections that will show up very clearly or 2) are willing to keep the paint finish in top shape with an obsessive degree of washes, waxes, and paint corrections.

I will be ordering the Liquid Platinum with the black interior versus my original selection of the blue. It just seems like the way to go with the car for me.

You'll love the Liquid Platinum. I love it on my GS F Sport. It really emphasizes the lines of the car and even shines on a cloudy day. It should really pop with all the lines and curves on the RC-F.
