GPS Update
Just had my GPS updated as per the Lexus "LIMITED SERVICE CAMPAIGN" Took over two hours but the dealership was nice enough to top up the tank and wash the car. Not sure if any other software or road database was updated.
How much did it cost? My neighborhood was a field the year my car was made so I can not find my address in the nav and it always shows me driving in a field. Not sure why that bugs me but it does. Figured the dealership should have updated when they sold it to me.
I had it done as well, it's free since it was a recall for me.

I got a letter in the mail for my 2015 RC F-Sport for this. It takes about 3 hours and it was only for the SOS function. They gave me a loaner car for 24hrs; very nice. However, after the software upgrade now the voice command for the Nav does not work for sh_t. I speak in an address and it comes up with something that is not even close. I would have skipped this recall if I had known.
The update, as I understand it, fixes a problem that would send incorrect location data for your car, if it is stolen or in a wreck, so I gladly had this done.
Nothing related to map data was changed. The maps and all the POI data are on a little SIM card that slides into a (covered) slot in the dash, just in front of the shift lever. This replaces the DVDs that had this data in previous iterations of nav systems, and is less expensive. I've had a NAV in several Lexus cars, and find it's not a bad idea to replace the nav data every 4 or 5 years, to get new roads and current POI data. It's priced somewhere between 100 and 200 dollars, as I recall, and needs no dealer installation - just swap out the card. Monkey should do this, probably, based on how recently his road was built, although if his home is in an unmapped area, he can still "Mark" it when he's home, and designate the mark as "Home" in the preset destinations - no need for an address. Just use the voice command "Let's go home." Works every time for me.

It you are going to be driving through fields to get home, you should have gotten the AWD with the more jacked up suspension (LMAO) - Totally joking!
Anyone know how to update the GPS on a 2010 RX350 ? …. without taking it to the dealer ? (I know the dealer has to make money … but what a rip-off … if it were "REASONABLE" … I would do it.)
Thanks in advance for any suggestions ….

This is the RC side of the forum, not RX. But I was told from my SA at lexus that this update takes 2-3 hours to do, just letting the computer do its thing. You can try it yourself, but I dont know where you would find that new flash for the headunit, and you risk bricking it. It should be free at the dealer since it is a recall...
