Is This A Good Deal For 2019 RC 350 F Sport

First of all, this is my very first post in this forum. I've been a Toyota Family for 30 years. Now I am a Lexus Family. I just bought an RX350, which is an awesome SUV.

I will be testing drive the new 2019 Flare Yellow RC 350 F Sports tomorrow and wanting to lease the car. I wonder if this is a good deal and how can I negotiate the monthly payment down? I've never leased a car before. Not sure how that works with Lexus.

RC350 F Sports RWD
MSRP: $57,059
Lease: $666/month
Down: $11412
Term: 36 Month / 10,000 miles/year

That much down with only 10K miles a year makes it seem like it is kinda high IMO. I have never leased a vehicle.

I would recommend increasing the milage per year. I have had mine 1 year and put 20k on it without trying too hard. The overage charge you will get at the end of the lease is not worth the monthly savings. 10k down might be a bit much. I just found a 2019 RC close to this price ($56k) and selected 36 month lease with 12k per year milage and $5k down, the monthly was $682. Your credit could be effecting this though.

To get the best deal do not lay all your cards on the table, ie DO NOT TELL THEM HOW MUCH YOU WANT TO SPEND PER MONTH!!! Play hard to get (not too hard to get), they want the sale if they don't know what your limit is they will inch lower and lower. Get them close and then tell them you are going to go look at a Q60 or something.

@jonmonkey Thank you for the info. Too bad, the one I look at today just got sold a few moments I got the key. This Yellow RC350 F Sport looks beautiful. However, it's not as bright as the Yellow LC500 and LFA (see the last photo). Damn. I guess I will have to buy a Q60 instead. :(

Are you deadset on the gen 2 RC? If not look at a lease return 2017-2018 model. Way more aftermarket upgrades if you are into that sort of thing but bigger deals.

TC2 05-08-19 02:28 PM

@jonmonkey Hmmm ... I want to lease a sports coupe, so I can enjoy it and write off for the business purpose. Not sure if I can lease a lease return car?

Is it possible to take over a lease? If so, I may take over my friend's LC500 lease.

My friend wants a new convertible LC500. His 2018 LC500 is only 5000 miles.

That payment seems high, especially with over $11K down.

You CANNOT lease a car that has been titled. If it were a Demo or something that hadn't been "purchased" before, you could, but not a lease turn in. at least that is how it is in our state.

Some leases can be assumed by another person, you would have to have him contact Lexus about that.

You should be able to negotiate at least $5k off MSRP, probably more with the yellow color (harder for them to sell = bigger discount for you). That will lower your payment. Just make sure they are giving you the lowest money factor (interest rate) that is available to you based on your credit score. Sometimes they inflate the money factor to make up for discounts elsewhere.

Just hire a broker, the fact that you were willing to put down 11K on a lease shows you're not knowledgeable enough to conduct this transaction on your own. Leasing an RC350, a sub 60k car, should land you sub 600 dollar payment after applying max MSD, provided you have good credit. Even with less than tier one credit, your quote is just horrendous. A good broker can find you such a deal and their fee is between 500 and 600 dollars.

PS. Yes, you can take over a lease.....

Meraki Autoworks 05-11-19 05:27 PM

You always want to put down close to $0 on a lease.

Hmm. Another AZ guy. And that yellow LFA tells me you went into Bell Lexus to look at these RC's. Bell Lexus is great when it comes to service. Still never have bought a car from them. My whole family being a Lexus family, none of them have bought anything from there either. We do have a lease on an RX350 though. They bundled a bunch of options in for us since they didnt have an optionless model. It is kind of odd that your down is that high, as well as your monthly. Usually they help you out down there.

SaddleFTW 05-13-19 12:13 PM

1. Do not put any down on a lease. If you total the car, you lose all that money.
2. Stay as close to the 1% of MSRP rule as possible (monthly payments = 1% of MSRP).
3. If you can wait a little bit, wait till Lexus have their sale events.

wthrman2 05-13-19 05:40 PM

What a few people have said...do not ever put any cash down on a lease!!

wthrman2 05-13-19 05:46 PM

...and **** I wish we had RWD in Canada so we didn't have to deal with that stupid AWD wheel gap!

louczar 05-15-19 06:25 AM

Maybe now I understand why the dealer was wanting that much for that car. I did a search (nation wide) for a yellow RC350. Found only one...and it did not have the yellow leather accents on the interior. IMO, it looks like the RC you pictured was a unique or part of a very small build configuration. I understand your desire for that car after seeing the pics.
