Default Ignition issue?

The past couple of days, I would turn the car on, and within a second or two it will shut off automatically. Then, I would restart it without a problem, but the infotainment screen says they system is restarting. This has happened twice in two days. Anyone else have this issue? I'll be taking it in, but was wondering if others have had this happen.

Uhh ohh.....No, haven't had this issue happen to me, but there was only one time while I was driving and my navigation screen paused....my radio controls froze. After I turned it off, I turned the ignition back on, my navigation showed my position and my radio controls were not frozen. Called up my Specialist and he told me that Lexus is working on a software update for the freezing navigation and radio controls. Knock on wood, it hasn't happened to me in a while, but I was told I just need to do a reset if this freezing happens again. (Just hold down the radio power button to reset for those who aren't aware, like I was) I'm curious to hear back on your issue. I still have yet to hear on that software update too, no word.

The software update for the NAV/Radio are already out as I've had it done to mine in July. Ask your service advisor about getting it done for yours. It fixes freezing of the NAV and also Bluetooth connectivity issues for phones.

July huh? That's almost 3 months past then. I mean I can understand how they can't remember me hahaha. I will definitely reach out and get it done. My 6 month service is coming up in a couple months, but I'll definitely be reaching out before then. Thank you for confirming that indeed there was a roll out for the update!

Well, this is the response I got: "The update is for the 14 IS, GX, and CT. What we can do is bring your car into the shop and open up a case with Lexus to at least get the ball rolling". So, they're issuing me a loaner. Not sure for how long or what they'll do...we'll see. I'll fill in. Appointment is next week.

Funny as I had the CA Lexus rep tell me that it was also for the 2015 RC350/ RC F, and he did about 20 cars at the dealership in July. The others were some of the ones you listed too.

Good luck and let us know how it works out.

Beats me....I remember my Product Specialist telling me that a special Field Engineer was coming down from a specific location for a short amount of time and he told me they're still tweaking out the update. Yea, for sure I'll post about the result. I hope they give me an RC-F as a loaner highly doubt that hahaha most likely an IS or GS, blehh hate 4 door cars.

That tells me that mine was a preliminary update and I could still get another one. They gave to a RX as a loaner. I too asked about an RC-F and they said sure, once I trade mine in and buy an RC-F. Not the answer I wanted. LOL

Yea, huh? Maybe it was a pre-lim.....I'll let you know what the end result is. Specialist told me they'd keep it overnight 1 day....God, I don't want a RX...I'll be happy with an IS or GS...

You have bad battery. I had this issue with my 2014 IS350 since I got the car, I ignored it for months but battery died for no reason a couple of months ago. I'm pretty sure it's the battery, have the dealer test it. It's common problem with Lexus vehicles. I didn't know RC have this issue as well.

It has nothing to do with Navigation software. It was rebooting because you car didn't complete the ignition and battery cut off the power.

Thanks! That would make the most sense. I haven't had a chance to take it in yet - been too busy, but it hasn't happened again in the past couple days. I'll keep an eye on it, but if it happens again, I'll make time to take it in. If it's just bad battery, that's not too bad then.

It had only happened to me about 4-5 times within 2 years of the ownership, but if you have some volt meter measure it to see if really is battery issue.

If the battery is not charging it also could be the alternator or the alternator is starting to go out. Have them check that also because if you put in a new battery the bad alternator will kill it also.
