Default warranty

update.

I was able to get it down to 2300.00 for Lexus new car platinum warranty for total 8 years 75k miles, 0 deductible.
while I was shopping around between states and dealerships, one of them told me about UAC extended warranty (Penske group) he said, the warranty this company offers it is just as good as factory warranty, and it cost about 500-600 bucks less than factory warranty charges. my quote from them was 1778.00 additional 4 years and up to 80k miles (car inspection charge included).

I had a guy at the Lexus dealer tell me about National Repair Solutions. They offer the same policies as the dealership but have more to choose from. I got coverage with them on my LS about 4 years ago, they replaced some senor, transmission and something with the a/c (my point is they paid the claims). Seems like the companies that don't pay the claims are usually not with Lexus or the dealership. I have had policies in the past before that I would have to call 20 million times to get things squared away and talk people into paying my claims. It was a nightmare and was glad I found this place. My wife and son cars are under them now too. So if I have problems I'll come back and let you guys now. Hope that helps!

Cheers!

I purchased a genuine Lexus extended warranty with zero deductible, 7 year 125,000 miles for $2,155.00 for my RC350. I would never purchase a 3rd party warranty. What happens if the 3rd party insurer goes out of business? You're left with a worthless piece of paper. I've also had a 3rd party warranty on my old 4Runner and had them deny a repair that the service writer told me a Toyota brand warranty would have covered it.

This is an old thread. Nobody should ever buy an extended warranty, let alone on a Lexus. I purchased a used Lexus LS430 in 10/16, 2006, with 81k.

If an extended warranty even existed, here is a list of things that broke on a 11 year old Lexus:

Two left front corner park sensors went bad

That's it.

And this advice is coming from someone who bought one on a BMW 335i twin turbo--Consumer Reports had it on the "avoid," and "most unreliable" lists.

Here's what broke and was fixed under the factory extended warranty, I even went for 7 years so it was 7/100:

<nothing>

My mom tells me why do you always tell the truth you make yourself look stupid. Why? Because if one person reads this and avoids an extended warranty, I told the truth and they saved money.

btw if Doug Demuro is one's hero, then, by all means, buy an extended warranty. He bragged about all the things he got fixed on a Range Rover. My buddy said boy did he make himself look stupid.

Default No No No

Aftermarket warranties are generally a bad deal. They are very good for your car salesman. In some cases they make as much commission on the warranty as they did on the car. I'm all about commission, it's what I work for every day, no salary here.

I can sell extended warranties on my products. I get the same % rate on the warranty as I get on the product. That's how it should be. If the sales rep's incentive to sell the extended warranty is far greater that is a giant red flag that the warranty is not a good thing for you.

Then look at Toyota's reputation for reliability. Why would you 'bet' against that?
