Default 3.66 ratio in 3IS IS350 if anybody is interested

Hi guys, just a heads up for anybody interested I've put 3.66 gears in my 350.

The transmission behaves OK, there are some oddities with the new gears in drive, in eco it seems fine though, then again I've only driven it for 15 minutes.

This is definitely how the car should have come from the factory, 0-100 may have been effected but overall it is a much nicer drive, not as full on as the 4.1's from the 2IS into our cars

What is the standard diff gearing? Also, assuming this can only be done with RWD?

Standard is 3.13, AWD might be a bit different as you will need the same ration front + rear.

AWD is 3.73 if I’m not mistaken.

Remember everyone talks about 2is being faster from a dig which is obviously true, but no one talks about the 3is killing a 2is on top end. I saw a post possibly on club Lexus of a 3is being 2 full seconds faster from something like 100-120mph. They broke down excelleration figures and basically past 100mph 3is pulls way harder. But 4.11 gears would be bad *** in the 3is

Where did you get the gears? Is there a kit available?

You're probably thinking about my 2IS vs 3IS spreadsheet that I posted a while back. The 2IS350 has nearly a full one-second advantage over the 3IS350 up to 110mph (which is why the 0-60 and 1/4 mile times are vastly different between the two models) but the 3IS350 is better geared from 110+ mph.

i wonder about that...if you turn off all traction, you can hold gear just a hair longer and get to 60 before shifting to third. Everybody talks about the gears in the dif being 3.13 compared to 4.1 but if you take the gearing of each transmission gear you are almost identical in overall gearing. I do have traction problems off the line with only an intake and catback...same mods I had on my 2is and I don’t remember having traction problems then. I use the same tires I did on the 2is.

The reason for the 3is shifting into 3rd before 60 is that it actually has lower gearing (in gears 1-2 at least) than the 2is, which should mean better off the line...but the extra shifting is killing the race with the 2is. If the gearing was the same in the trans with only 4/5/6/7/8 gearing being different the race should be a tie in the 1/4 bc I don’t think the 2is hits 4th in the 1/4....or it’s close if you can hold the gear a hair longer.

If you go here and input everything, the speeds are nearly identical....assuming the same tire height sizes, which factory they are 255/35-18 I think.

Did you swap a whole pumpkin? Or did you actually swap ring + pinion?

Do you have any 0-60 Dragy stats or something like that?
