P0761 fault....car drives normal
Hi to all Lexus owners. I am new here .
I recently purchased a 2006 IS 250 RWD with 101k miles with automatic transmission. When i drive it first time, no fault on dash , but second day , 1 min after start CHECK VSC , CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, SLIP LIGHT AND MASTER LIGHT ON.... Checking with OBD scanner....P0761 shift solenoid C performance/stuck . I read all the comments regarding this tranny and this error and i start from changing the fluid with drain and refill method...6 times, measure the level of fluid, measure the solenoid S3 -16 ohm and cheking the wires and conectors.....all good . Car is driving normal with this fault , ....not stuck in 3rd gear or other gear, shifting normal, not sliping, no noise....nothing unsual. I am very confused and dont know what to do now.
Appreciate some ideas from you guys.
Thank you.

Did you only drain and refill the transmission fluid six times without replacing any solenoid? How is it doing so far?
I have 2 code pop up P0751 shift solenoid A Performance and P2714 Pressure Control Solenoid D Performance pop up for me few days before Christmas. My car is stuck in 3rd gear and does not shift normally from 1st and up. I suspect the "Lifetime" fluid transmission has screwed me up.

Yes, I only drain the fluid 6 times without replacing any solenoid. For 2 or 3
times the VSC pop up again with the same error, but also is switching off alone. The car with and without the error is driving the same....not stuck in any of gears, shifting up and down normal....you don't even notice when is changing.. What I notice, is that at first start in morning, if I drive with less than 50 km/ h....first 3-4 min is shifting only to 3rd gear, but after this, in the same conditions of driving is shifting to 5th gear on 60 km/h. So I think its shifting normal as I read... Now, in your case, you have already 2 errors with 2 different solenoids, so it's more difficult . In my opinion you can start with checking the quality of your fluid and if you have the correct level. After you can check this 2 solenoids and of course change the fluid if its bad. More than this I don't know what to say....I am not so experienced in this.....I hope only your gearbox is not gone, cause I saw that they are very expensive in US. In Ireland they are much cheaper....around 700 euro. Hope this help you a bit. Wish you a Happy Christmas and good luck .

lexalex250, during my readings to trouble shoot my car problem. I read that Lexus had a "software" problem with this issue that could be reset by the dealer. If your car is driving normally, bringing it to Lexus may be one way to fix this.
Thank you 2013FSport for the illustration that would definitely come in handy. Do you know if the solenoids be removed without having to remove the valve body? I plan to drop the pan and take out the solenoids to see what's going on with them. I'm hoping that the transmission is not toasted since I stop driving as soon as I had notice the problem.
Plan A :
1. Drop the pan
2. Remove the solenoid for inspection
3. Clean and reinstall the solenoids, replace if they're duds...
4. Replace the filter
5. Reinstall and fill with Valvoline Maxlife ATF or Toyota WS... (Getting mixed reviews on Valvoline.)
6. Perform 3-6 successive fluid change after few blocks of test drive to see if problem goes away.
Plan B
1. Find replacement Transmission from salvage yard and get ready for a long winter...
2. Pop the replacement transmission in and pray for success.
Kingdom934 has similar issue as I have and had to replace his transmission. I hope I wont fall in the same camp.
@whazzzzuup has shown us the path to success on transmission replacement on his IS250. I hope that I won't have to do this. But if I do, I hope that I don't screw up and that it would be my last time doing it.
My trouble is that I've never lift the car higher than necessary to change the engine oil with my RhinoRamp. I tried to get under the same way to see if I can get to the transmission but it's too tight. Getting access to the transmission requires the car to be lift even higher. I'm searching around to see what everyone is using to raise the car up w/out spending a fortune. You guys have any safe tips?

99% certain they can be pulled w VB in place.
Borrow a 2ton jack and buy four good quality jackstands. Drive up onto some 2"x6" planks stacked and it's easy to jack from A arms or cross members. Just don't jack on the body without a long section good quality hardwood or you'll crush it.
More info.....
Of course the pictures loaded wrong. Oh well...

NP - used to work at a transmission shop. I know it can be intimidating but don't let this part mess with you.
Ohm them and apply 12v. Confirm they move. Read up on those repair sites as mentioned as valve bodies can have stuck valves. It just takes the right piece of debris getting lodged and a valve hangs.
If you know you can get the fluid level correct that is the biggest challenge! Honestly. Get some test cables and unplug the harness at the pass through connector (through the case), do your testing then. If they fail the ohm test pull them.
Honestly I doubt it's a solenoid but they are easy to test so start there. Then power them for a functional test. After that it's time to pull the valve body. You'll need an inch pound torque wrench to put it back and 1/4" drive speed handle. Torque in criss cross pattern using three steps.
We'll find the literature when you cross that bridge.

Where you able to fix the problem, because I’m having the same issue.

Non synthetic Lubeguard Red will match the dex/merc non synthetic right?
Attached is a pic of the correct Lubeguard right?, thanks so much. By the way i emailed B12 and they said yes, there product can be effective for this. They said the solvent has a low boiling pt and shouldnt hurt seals. They did suggest 1.5 to 2oz per quart of tx capacity and just go thru all gears snd just drive for 10 to 15 mintes, drain and fill. And repeat 2 or 3 times if needed. I adked them about leaving it in a wk or driving 100 miles and i ll post what they say. Since u have had good results, seems like leaving it in longer is worth trying. https://www.ebay.com/itm/26002954832...mis&media=COPY
