Default To turbo or not.

hey I need your opinion guys.
Since I am thinking about turbo for my gs3, and also looking for turbo options from srt for now. XS engineering has one coming but not ready yet so for now I think I have only srt option. Anyways, srt claims 275 at the wheel and with altitude adjustment here at denver which is over 5000ft high, it should be like 250 at the wheel for me. I am pushing around 175 now and I was also thinking about doing cam gear and race pipe also maybe underdrive pulley and that should get me around 200. So here is my question, should I get turbo to get 50 more than what could by just staying n/a? especially for heft $4k?
or shoud I wait and get xs setup which suppose to net around 310 at the wheels but with expected price of somewhere between 5k to 6k?
what do you guys think?
thanks

I'd wait and go for the 310 at the wheels. You'll be more pleased and by then, have more money to throw around after saveing. Good luck with your project.

I believe that SRT has different stages (1-3) for the turbo kit (at least for IS300 they do).
So you might find a comparable set up in SRT's camp.

However, the more horsepower the kit will make the more the torque curve will move to the upper reaches of the RPM band (as a general rule). It depends on what kind of driving you do: if you drag race all the time, then you want higher horsepower, if not you might want torque earlier in the RPM range.

Just to ease any confusion:

MOST RECENT SRT STAGE LAYOUTS FOR EITHER IS300 or GS300

Stage 1 (265-275 rwhp) Non intercooled @ 6.5 max psi.
Stage 2 (310-330 rwhp) depends on options selected & mileage/condition of your motor in addition to tranny type (Auto or 5-Speed).
Stage 3 (375 rwhp) fuel upgrades completed IN HOUSE @ SRT not really offered, but is avail per Mo's approval.
Stage 4 (400+ rwhp) IN HOUSE @ SRT
Stage 5 (500+ rwhp) 2JZ-GTE swap...the works IN HOUSE @ SRT

If you need pricing, contact me via PM or mc@swiftracing.com

Thanks.

Just as life itself..................it's a work in progress!! LOL!

There is a lot of work to fulfill & complete here @ SRT. I'm actually really glad that we've been laying low key enough to get work done, but still close enough to keep a "raised eyebrow" on things.

Later.

Hello Mr. Marken Smith,

Can you please give me your expert advice on exactly how hard it is to make the MKIV's 6-speed Getrag to work in a 2nd generation GS300? Have you guys done such a conversion?

I know physically and mechanically is not a problem at all, just need some simple custom fabrication. But how hard it is to integrate the manual tranny with all the electronic? Am I just asking for headache?

I only like to drive Japanese car and I want a Japanese M5/S55, this is the closest thing to it. But I don't want my car to be in the shop for 2 years sorting everything out. You know what I mean?

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Take care,

Jeff
