ROD Millen Super charger FYI

FYI. The RMM S/C kit with intercooler and a Vortech V-2 S/C ONLY puts out 4lbs of boost!

Unless you buy the smalles pulley 2.62" then you get 7.5lbs.

The intercoller looses 3-4lbs of boost. The stock pulley of 3.61" is the largest made by Vortech, theroretically you should gain 1-2lbs per pulley size change, however with this system you get 3.5lbs-4lbs with the 3.61" pulley....6 steps away at 2.87" you can get 5lbs of boost. If you bypass the intercoller you can get 7.5lbs of boost off the 2.87" pulley.

To get 7.5lbs boost with the intercooler you need 2 sizes smaller @ 2.62" creating 46,000+ rpm impeller speed. (V-2 max speed is 50,000). This creates a ton of heat on the S/C intself, and the belt tends to slip unless very tight.

Along with the lack of boost you also do not get a blow-off valve, I guess they figure why do you need one with only 4lbs of boost:confused:

RMM also doesn't package any fuel management system which is needed if you don't want to run dead rich like the early SRT w/o the piggyback ecu.

All in all consider 7,000 plus installation for 4lbs and 330 hp. NO THANKS

I went with the 2.62 pulley @ 7.5lbs blow-off valve, stand alone fuel management w/timing. It took another 3000.00 in parts and labor to get this far in my R&D, I am passing the info along to the CL gang because they always helped me in the past.

*This information was based on my S/C and the 4lbs was confirmed by the latest install in Ohio also. GOOD LUCK:confused:

Look's like the SRT SC was a better value?

rominl 01-30-03 04:31 PM

oh that's really bad.... so you got the sc already and found out about the lack of boost?

kensttgs400 01-30-03 08:48 PM

Roenick7 - Any ideas on going to a TT - $7k and still not right!
You have got to be kidding!!! Is there any type of decent performance after investing all of this? The $'s for my Twin Turbo look better and better all the time. @ 9 lbs of boost & 60 degrees I'm consistent 13.2 @ 109 - I've clicked that off at least 6-8 times. I can't even count how many times I've done a 13.3 @ 108 mph
Even my original SRT S/C came w/ECU and intercooler @ 8.5 lbs of boost.
BTW - My best to date is 12.9 @111 mph and 0-100 @10.8 secs.

Wow, what a POS:mad: . I hope all those SC kits rust on the shelf for $6.5k. Sounds like they didn't do any R&D on this kit.

do you have any close up pictures of the kit and the components?

Roenick7,
You mentioned the intercooler is losing 3-4 lb's. - There is your problem!! No way should it lose that much!! Either there is a leak in the intercooler itself, or it is way to small for the application. (BTW - What are the dimensions? LWH - Do you know what is't rated for CFM?) Designed properly the cooler should not drop more than 1/4 to 1/2 lb. of boost. Believe me - I/ve been there. I've had 3 and keep going larger and larger!! Each one is an improvement over the previous! LOL

at that low of boost,

intercooler won't make a huge difference...

you should try and bypass the intercooler (install a straight pipe)
and see how much boost it builds...

maybe the intercooler has some bad welding...

1. Intercooler holds pressure all wleds and leaks have been fixed.

2. Even a straight pipe the V-2S Vortech S/C produces 9-10lbs @ the smallest 2.62" puley and the crank pulley of 5.5". 46000rpm impeller speed.

3. The intercooler is quiet small I have seen bigger on a 4 cylinder.

4. the specs are on Vortechengineering.com for the s/c unit; Rodmillen has updated pics of the intercooler piping on thier web.

5. I was told six pounds so I figured it would be easy to get 7.5lbs. I was never told 4lbs!

6. 13.2 is a good ET with the TT set up I would expect 12.9 for the cost. I hit 13.4 all day just think if I were to hit the 175 shot of NOS:rolleyes: I would either run a 12.7 or my car would blow up.

7. Just one more reason I am first on the list for the 2004-5 v-10 BMW M5. I used the money i would have spent on the TT and put it towards the 500hp beast.

TerryTCL 01-31-03 08:20 AM

have you ever used that 175 shot Nitrous?

direct port?

how does the engine handle that?

roenick7 01-31-03 08:31 AM

Yes 175 shot puts down 385 RWHP runs 13.40 on 19" rims 45psi/ pump gas.

0.014 gas nozel
0.024 nos nozel

too lean in one cylinder evaporated spark plug, 2300.00 head damage.

stick with 0.022 NOS nozel at 145 or so shot which will run a 13.45 ET and the engine needs retarding about 3-5 degrees to be really safe.

Best bang for the buck! I like it when I pull up next to someone and purge over the roof by 3' the nice white fog of NOS:D

you can do a search for Roenick7 and get all my pics.
GOOD LUCK
