Well I'm impressed. I got the FRS LSD installed a couple days ago in my MT and it has been a sweet experience so far.

As we all know, the is250 has limited power. But with the LSD I can feel it all being transfer to the pavement when launching. Cornering has been greatly improved. Acceleration in general has gotten a bit better. For some reason the transmission engagement is a bit smoother. (My mechanic thought so as well and we were not exactly sure why)

I was originally worried about the 4.1 gear ratio, but so far I am really digging it. The engine does rev about 200-300 rpm higher when cruising, but hey that just helps me get in to the power band a tiny bit quicker as well.

I did still have a traction control light come on when I really kicked it around a corner at high rpm but it didn't seem to stop me from finishing my turn at full speed.

Any hoo. I'll update more as I continue to push the limits

Scored an LSD from a totaled 2013 BRZ off Craigslist for the ridiculously low price of...wait for it...$300, with the case. I personally watched them pull it from the cold corpse. I'll install it soon but it's so hot out.

^Nice score! I'll assume that LSD will hold the torque of that V8 of yours?

I'm not to sure about the power capability of the Torsen but I would imagine that the half shafts would go first. Of course, either breaking would suck

^I'd assume there have been some boosted BRZ/FRS owners running a stock Torsen LSD setup. Perhaps so time looking into what #s those folks were putting down would help calm any issues you might have about the LSD holding up. I would agree about the half shafts going out first, especially if you get some nasty wheelhop off of a launch. Luckily when I had my boosted Honda I had a Quaife LSD, so I only had to worry about the shafts. But with lifetime replacement warranties on AutoZone shafts, I never worried too much.

Just scooped my FRS LSD stoked this thread came up when looking for an LSD, obviously it's a lot more cost friendly to go with an OEM LSD. All my parts won't be going in until January though, so my car will be completely different (brembo front, new coils, control arms, new wheels / tires, differential and much more).

It might. The final drive in the carrier might be a different ratio. Get whichever has the higher #. Example : 4.10 vs 3.83...get the 4.10. <--random ratios, not necessarily from a Lexus or FRS/BRZ.

Sorry to dig up an old thread,

Do 250's and 350's have a different rear end ?

I'd like to try an 86 LSD into the rear of a 3IS IS350.

Will the complete diff assembly bolt in ?

Thanks.

They are different. Unfortunately it won't fit an IS350.
