1998 Lexus GS400 P0172, P0130, P0133, P0150, P0153
 

Hey folks,

today, my GS threw these codes. I had troubles with the P0172 a while back, but replaced the pre-cat O2 sensors with Denso units, which seemed to fix it for a while. Now, I'm not sure what to think. Any pointers would be much appreciated!

With that have been said, I'll add a few more details:

P0130 & P0133 are associated with the Bank 1 Sensor 1.

P0150 & P0153 are associated with the Bank 2 Sensor 1.

My question is, why would I be receiving these codes when I had both replaced with Denso units a while ago? What else could be triggering this?

You sure the wiring isn't frayed (filleted)? Could be the old harness going to each O2 sensor is brittle and possibly shorting depending on the vibrations, etc.? I read your long thread on the weird O2 problem that a couple techy guys tried to help you with, seems like if the Denso (which are Toyota OEM as far as I know) sensors worked then, then there's either something causing the sensors to go out, or there is a wiring fault somewhere. Wild guesses of course, just in case you haven't checked those things.

I certainly wouldn't rule it out, although I haven't had a chance to take a peek under the car.
