Default Rubber piece on OEM exhaust?

Out of curiousity, does anyone know what this rubber piece is for? Didn't notice it till today while cleaning up the garage. Anyone ever swap it over to their aftermarket exhausts?

Thanks

Those are exhaust hangers, you need them to hang the exhaust onto your midpipe and back of your car. Usually aftermarkets come with exhaust hangers.. but maybe not. I know the F-sport exhaust comes with exhaust hangers and you had to switch out the back two (the ones you have pictured) for the ones that came with the f-sport exhaust.

No - not the hangers. Its a separate piece bolted onto the exhaust itself and found only on one side of the exhaust. My best guess is that it has to do with minimizing vibrations but wanted to see if anyone knew.

I noticed it too when I pulled my factory exhaust. I chalked it up for just being a bumper to keep the exhaust from hitting anything at the rear of the car.

Those are rubber dampeners, like what alot of cars come with built-into their crank pulleys to dampen the harmonic vibrations.

Exactly what it is. I have a fujitsubo legalis-r exhaust that required me to remove from oem and install into it. I assume that's what made my exhaust particularly quieter than most aftermarket ones including the tanabe, which I like.
