Default fuel for a is300

I'm thinking of getting rid of my tahoe for for something better on gas and look at a is300 how is the car on gas and do you have to use Premium gas in it

Yes. And it gets pretty crappy gas mileage at that.

I get ~19 mpg city + Hwy with mostly < 3K rpm shifts.

I'm getting about 17.9 on average according to the app on my phone. About 85/15 highway/city spirited driving but traffic usually sucks so stop and go, sometimes idling for more than 5 minutes because of construction on an offramp. A51 intake using K&N filter and Lsportline exhaust, otherwise stock enginewise.

Mine gets 20 mostly city. Guess that's not too bad

I get around that too. The 2JZGE has some a nice torque band- which I'm sure is at least one reason the gas mileage is not the greatest.

That's not that bad,so what would happen if a person didn't use premium gas would it hurt the motor

If you don't plan to use premium gas, DO NOT BUY AN IS300 it's obviously not for you.

I just did a 2000 mile trip this weekend, including hours of idling (car shows) and I averaged 24 over it all.
