I went to the local 1/8th mile track tonight. Ran a personal best, but overall a disappointing night. When I arrived, I let the car have a 45min cooldown period. Set tires to 30psi and ran. First run was my best... 1.98 60ft, 8.55@82.4mph... My previous best was 8.65 w/2.03 60ft... Kind of confused on the mph though.. my previous best mph was 83.9.. and my mph all night was in the range I was running without the exhaust. mph is usually an indicator of horsepower, with ET being a factor of traction.

The car seemed to pick up a tenth mid track from my previous runs to the 330ft...which seems to indicate more mid/top end power. Time will tell when I dyno on Nov 9.

My other runs were useless. temps were about 50 degrees, and the track wasn't hooking at all. 1st gear was useless... zero traction, no matter how soft i launched... as soon as the pedal hit the floor the tires lit up. The rest of the night was 8.8-8.9 runs spinning all of first gear.

Its time to get some sticky tires.. hell I might even throw some drag radials on the back and run them daily driving too. Might see if I can find a cheap set of OEM 18's to use for track duty.

So overall for the night, I got a personal best ET, same mph range, and left alot of rubber on the track. Might try again Sunday.. it is supposed to be warmer and track will hook better.

Yeah, I have been making separate trips to the store for different items just to drive it.

nice! Was there a headwind at the track? A 10mph headwind will knock 1 mph /.5et off in the quarter mile.

Not bad.. I would classify it as a "side-wind" but not really 10mph. I think the mph will go up when I can actually get off the line without blowing the tires for all of 1st gear. No matter what I did, it was bouncing off rev limiter in 1st and then going when it hit 2nd.

I am currently looking for a good set of drag radials. Looking at Nitto 555r simply because they are a good compromise on wet/dry daily driving and will last a good bit... and they definitely will hook better than these worn out Conti DWS's

Did you have to get some good heat in them? or just a standard quick heat spin and go? I have heard they have to be heated up more than your "standard" DR.

I can't seem to find the OEM size, so I will find something close.

do a 245 width and height that will make it slightly shorter overall. I never had a problem with heating them up. Just a quick burn and they stuck all day, although I was running a 285 width which was unnecessary

The sizing is what I am having an issue with. Unless I am not searching correctly, I can't seem to find the 245's. From what I am reading, the NT05R's are much better for traction, but I only see the 285's listed available for 18" wheels.

Will the 285 fit the OEM 18" rim? Or is that overkill? I want to daily drive them too for now, so don't really want a tire that will have too much "swimmy" feeling when on curves.

I think it'll be overkill and may not even fit the width of the OEM wheel. I think a 285 width needs 9" or more of wheel width

Yeah, that's what I am seeing. Wish I had scheduled a vacation day from work today so I can finish my research.

I am even considering buying the cheapest 18x9.5" rims I can find for the rear and mounting the track tires on there. Hell, they can be had for $130ea range... then I could go with the 285 NT05R's... still reading up on some stuff. With an 8.55 on a 1.98, if I can get down in the high 1.7's with a sticky tire, we would be looking at maybe 8.30's as the car sits. Time will tell.. its just s waste of time to go to track on tires that do nothing but spin right now.

I will be going to the dyno again early tomorrow morning for the after dyno numbers for the JoeZ Intake/F-Sport filter/JoeZ Racing exhaust. Hope to see some decent numbers. I will be happy if I see 285rwhp out of it.

Going to see if they can superimpose the new pulls with my original pulls.. I believe they still should have the file on their HD. I will be posting the updated dynosheet on Post #2 of this thread, along with video of the dyno pulls.

I also have not had a chance to do the after mod Launch video yet. Been pretty busy. Will probably get that done this weekend and post a before/after launch combo video also.

What were your modifications for your 12.97 1/4 mile run?

Mod's are pretty well known on our cars. The exhaust/intake is pretty much the only thing to be done other than some weight savings, spare tire , passenger seat(the 12.84 run).. I think with intake/exhaust/sticky tires and a good 60ft, our cars are more than capable of high 12's on a good run.

Tuning in for the results. I'm local work near uptown Charlotte and will be a new owner of an is350 within the next week or so.
