I'm assuming you have a cold air intake on your GTR?

If so, you probably don't hear a similar sound because there are no cold air intakes available for our cars.

Also you need to reach around 4K RPMs to really hear the intake kick in.

that would be my guess. i have heard ppl saying the f sport does have some sound, but i would highly doubt it being as loud as a exposed filter

Guys, I am sure he means the spooling sound of the turbo.

The reason why you dont hear that sound is because the GTR is a twin turbo car. With a cold air intake that also amplifies the sound of the turbo's spooling. You will hear that whislting sound on any high boost turbo car. The more the boost, the more the noise, and as I said, the intake amplifies the whistling sound by a long shot.

And IS250 is obviously not turbocharged so therefore no whistling sound.

NA cars give a different more roaring sound with intakes, as opposed to the airplane boosted whistling sound which is much nicer imo

They're both good. F Sport is legal in all states. It's mostly 5-7HP increase.

I thought exposed filters faulters performance due to it being exposed and sucking in hot air vs the box tube that sitis behind the front grille.

both considering KnN makes that cool noise i think i should have picked that one over F sports. special if both have the same horsepower increase.

They do NOT have the same hp increase.

The Fsport/JoeZ intake will give you ~5whp

All other short rams (including K&N) will give you gains or losses of ~5hp because they are not using the stock intake box and therefore are sucking more hot air. The upside is that SRIs are louder than the fsport or JoeZ

Best option is probably a JoeZ pipe with a K&N drop-in filter. Cheaper than the F Sport, same gains, same sound.

But if you want that aggressive sucking sound when you rev it, the exposed filter intakes will do it. F Sport and Joe Z will not.
