Default Fsport intake came off.. Haha

Hey hey,
Scary experience just now!
I bought my fsport cold air intake from Sewell on their blackfriday deal. Brought it to a dealer since I work a lot and it's down the street from me. Now I'm driving home on the 110 in south pas and swirve to miss some driver and end up hitting a pretty big pot hole that makes a huge "crank"!

I'm like, great, my car is 20 days old and I probably messed up the bumper. I continue to drive and the car starts beeping at me, losing power, and lights go ballistic. All of a sudden the car dies and goes from dead rolling to dead stop. In the middle of the 110... I'm like oh crap oh crap someone's gonna rear end me and I'm gonna die or worse, damage my car! So I keep clicking engine start while revving to get it to move inch by inch but it won't go any more, I pop the hood to see what gives and notice the rubber "o" ring is disconnected, as if it wasn't put on all the way.
Pushed it back in tightened the screws like a beast, jumped back in started right up and left, all in the middle on the freeway. Haha

Moral of the story, always double check the technicians work. I'm gonna have a little chat with them later today.

It was $250 + shipping

Yeah, for people who don't know, the 110 is the first free in the US, three lanes of insanity, lots of curves and potholes. Oh yeah, and people who drive 85+.

Id give that dealership an earful. Did you happen to take a quick photo of it with your phone while you were out there?

I know I should have pulled my phone out and snap a picture, but being in the middle of the freeway, the only thought in my head was to get the pipe back on and get in thr car before I die. Haha

You're in the middle of the freeway and was able to get out and opened your hood? That's extremely dangerous considering cars going at 70-80mph. I would try to pull the car to the right shoulder as much as possible and then do the repair, but it's still dangerous.

There isn't much shoulder in that portion if i remember correctly. In my previous life we used to cannon ball run up that to old town and back on our crotch rockets. I installed my fsport intake and noticed the pipe is a little short. You have to use the rubber grommet mounts to fill in the voids. Wish it wasn't made like that. That's probably why it popped out, the stealership pushed it in too far on one side. Sorry this happen to you, but glad you and your car are okay. Shoot, if your car did get hit, you could have been taliking big money law suit from you stealership. Could of had an F. Lol!

Yeah the dealership didnt take the time to put it on right or test it. Me and another CL member put on my intake and it really was a ***** to get it to line up right and make sure both ends of the tube were sturdy,
The dealership probably just barely put it on the edge of the rubbers.

Damn that is crazy on the 110 tho, glad you didnt get rear ended, maybe you should try out for NASCAR pit crew. haha
