this was a good tip!!!
an easy little mod and does add some throaty grumble when you floor it. i can see how you wouldn't notice a difference though if you had aftermarket exhaust.
30 minute job from start to finish including removing and reinstalling the airbox...after removal, .i used a large drill bit to make a few holes in the corners of my square and then a little handheld hacksaw to connect them and tighten up the lines.

lose the OEM perfectionist/F Sport goodies brownie points though lol
i went for the F Sport lower airbox and, unrelated, F Sport manual gear **** for my 2is but only because my last 2is wasnt an F Sport and my current one is and its a cleaner car so im wanting to keep the standard of modification a little higher. Running a K&N panel filter in mine as i already had it leftover from my last or i might have gone for the F Sport filter just to be a purist lol

Mightcarmods did a test of all kinds of intakes. Cone+intake, box+intake, relocation of both. Basically nothing showed any noticeable gain EXCEPT literally putting the cone filter out of the car and next to the big *** fan that they used with their dyno. Even then, not a noticible gain from driving.
So all in all, just make your intake to your liking: brand, shape, color. Whatever, it's not for gains.

I got the entire F-Sport intake assembly. I had a K&N filter that I was using but replaced everything with F-Sport. I read that the F-Sport intake is similar to Joe-Z (or Greddy, I forget), but the F-Sport is louder due to the hole in the intake box.

I also datalogged airflow rates comparing the stock intake pipe vs the JoeZ intake pipe and documented airflow gains. In addition, I did a similar comparison test between the enclosed OEM lower intake box and the F-Sport lower intake box and datalogs also showed a noticeable gain in airflow with the F-Sport lower intake box setup.

This is not accurate. @joez had done multiple dyno tests on several IS350 using his JoeZ intake pipe which showed rwhp gains over stock.
