Default Whats the cutoff for 2001 GS300's for Aristo Swap?

Hi Guys,
Im looking to purchase a GS300 soon and want to do a Aristo 2JZ swap.

My question is, for the most direct swap possible, what is the cutoff date for the 2001 for VVTI Aristo 2JZ swap? Ive been told halfway through 2001, but before I buy a 2001 and get a GS300 that was built AFTER The cutoff Id like to gather the details.

Anyone know what the cutoff build date is in 2001 for the fairly straightforward Aristo/2JZ swap?

Not sure If I've seen the actual month cut-off for the 01's. You could buy a 2000 and know for sure your all good..

What you can do is carry a 10mm socket with you, and pop the plastic lid off the ecu cover (big plastic box under the hood behind the driver headlight), when you lift the lid you'll be looking straight down at the top of the ecu's connectors. If it's 5 plugs similar is shape and size it's the late 01+, if it's 6 plugs that vary in width then it's 98-early 01...

There's no definitive cutoff date, but I'd wager it's closer to the end of 2001 production cycle. As the previous poster said, grab a 10mm and undo the 3 bolts on the ECU box on the car to find out for sure

They also switched the MAS sensor when they changed the ECU. It is much easier to look for the older style MAS.

Not necessarily. There are some 01 out there with the newer style MAF sensor and still using the older ECU!

I have 5 white plugs and 1 grey plug on the ecu on my 2001 gs300. So from what i gather i have the easier swap in my 2001 gs300? Also my gs300 was manufactered built date was feb 2001. Sorry that im bringing up old post but i have search and there is no definite answer.

I cant remember where I read it but, what i saw was that Lexus starts the production of its next year models in August every year. I'm sorry I don't have the facts to support my statement but I did read it somewhere. I guess a good way to find out is to perhaps call a Lexus dealer and find out when the get the 1st shipments of cars and what their manufacturing month is. Or.....maybe go to a Lexus dealership and make like your looking for a car and just open up doors and hoods and check for the dates?? Just an idea. But the cut off would be great to know. It would help people form buying a GS that is older and having a harder time doing the swap. One thing I know for a fact is...if you put a sexy lexus in front of me. Ill have a hard time saying no!! lol
