Didn't they say the Gt-R couldn't be tuned/reflashed because of the encryption on the ECU? But Mine's eventually was able to get pass that didn't he? I think american tuners like Sp engineering and Jotech and done the same thing with the GTR. I think it's just a matter of time before someone figures it out.

*for you ECU want-to-be-hacked guys*
It took HKS EIGHT YEARS to crack the ecu for the rx-8 to make a turbo kit for it, the isX50 isn't a a sports car so dont expect anyone to be trying to crack the toyota encryption~ much less with a 12:1 compression ratio, as Kurtz said~ just what kind of return are you expecting? It would be more cost effective to drop in a chevy sb...
*edit* before someone goes talking about flat spots in the rpm range and stuff like that, please~ taking care of a flat spot is NOT gonna take a second off your 0-60 or 1/4mi times...

LMS did for a while, but since almost nobody on earth wanted to pay $6000 for 40 hp they only sold like 3 of them and gave up on it.
One member has ordered the HKS kit from Japan (pricing seems to be in the $6000-ish range as well, depending on exchange rate and shipping) and after some modification and making his own wiring harness he was able to get it to work on the US IS350, including the HKS f-con tuning portion (it's not really tuning in the sense that you can't easily change the tune yourself, but it's an active piggyback system when plugged into the OBD2 port at least). Ideally, if it continues to work well, it's likely to produce better than 40 hp (possibly more in the 60-80 hp range) due to running higher boost... though AFAIK there's not much information on how well the motor stands up to anything above 6 psi long term.

this summer the 2IS will have been on the market for 6 years.
How much time are you thinking exactly?
More likely this will simply never happen.
On the GT-R I'm guessing you mean the speed limiter crack that COBB came up with? COBB was looking at the Lexus/Toyota ECU stuff at least 3 years ago (I know HKS350 spoke to them about it in mid-late 2008 and they were working on it at the time) and after all that time has produced no results for these cars (and I would suspect have since given up). World Tuning was working on it even longer back and nothing.
Seriously, don't hold your breath.
(though I keep wondering what exactly people are expecting to happen if someone did manage it... the car still has ~12:1 compression so it's not like you can slap a huge turbo on and run 20 psi if you just crack the ECU)
