congrats man, I love my 6 speed GS300 too. It looks like you used a B+M shifter with a really long shift ****? Your lock out looks to be under the center console.

The stock / Aftermarket V160 shifters are too short unless you raise the transmission, I didn't want to do that so I wound up making 1 shifter out of two stockers, love the feel of it now. As Ropadopa said, welcome to the 6 speed club, there is only a handful of us. I'm going to get the panel / boot reworked in the future, the shifter is finally perfect though.

Rick Bowers at Speedtech made the shifter for me if you need one
I bought the tranny with a supra short shift kit on it already, we just used a B&M plate to seal things up in the tunnel, no B&M shifter. the funny thing is I didnt even think about a shift **** until it was all done. I left the shop with no damn ****, ended up stopping by PepBoys and getting some bull**** $15 **** to throw on there for the meantime. I grabbed the longest one possible, and it actually sits pretty good. Reverse clears the console, just closer to the back then I would like from the visual standpoint. Remember, the adapter plate makes the tranny sit back probably 1.5"'s for the 1UZ. If this was bolted up on a 2JZ, it would sit perfectly.

It is deep though, it sounds like your solution would be perfect. PM me with what he charged you to make that up. I might suggest it to my guy too.

Thanks

I swear fellas, vids are coming. the weather has been perfect for it the last two weekends, but all of my boys have been tied up and unable to shoot for me.

PM Rick Bowers, he goes by Speeder on here for the shifter. You have to modify the tree and the linkage rod (the rod that bolts to your shifter) These two things must be shortened to get the shifter to sit in the right spot, Rick measured to bring the shifter up through the stock auto opening and it worked out perfect.

Even with the 2JZ and V160 it sits too far back. Measure twice, cut once!

thanks fellas, but the car has been completely redone since this build. Swapped the motor for a single turbo 2JZGTE putting out 769rwhp

Still has the 6 speed......most everything else changed too.....body, interior, wheels, blah blah blah

So why the change from the UZ to the JZ? How much did the UZ make in the end with the 6sp?

So why the change from the UZ to the JZ? How much did the UZ make in the end with the 6sp?
Numerous reasons for the change in motor, but before I get to that, I never ran the car on the dyno with the 6spd mated to the 1UZ. It was dynoed on the TH400, if I remember correctly it was in the 560rwhp range and in the mid 600's for TQ. Im sure it would have been higher numbers on the V160 with less drivetrain loss.

Why did I swtich motors out?

I actually was parting out the car to move on to a new project. I got 3/4 the way through that and decided to keep it. At that point the motor was gone,l the TT set up was gone, the electronics were gone, the body kit was gone, etc, etc..

even though I managed to mate the V160 up to the 1UZ, I was really limited on certain things.....like the clutch and flywheel. I felt like I was always chasing something to make that set up perfect. When mating together parts that dont belong with each other, there are always things your not 100% happy with. Im a picky bastard though.

When doing it over the 2nd time around I decided to stick to the 2JZ GTE drivetrain. I had 3 Supra's back in the day, so Im real familar with what to do and what I know I would be happy with.

What I do know is I absolutely love the car as it sits now. My boy Ben at Freed Engineering did it right for sure.

Still big pimpin' I see........lol

Sup big dawg? I see you're still at it. Don't give me the fever again. You know I have a race motor just sitting on a stand at the shop itching to do something with. Sam is fighting me cause we'd have to go stand-alone and he doesn't want me to ruin DD out of it. I'd still like to do it and mate that 6 spd to it. That's what I'd always wanted to do.

Glad to see OG's still holding it down. Props bud.

so the single turbo 2JZ-GTE is pushing out more power than a previous 1UZ with TT?

I still think you need to give your car a vacation and let it visit it's cousin in Hawaii!! LOL.
Same torque? so does it feel faster or pull harder? Glad all is well my friend.

Nice to see that the original horseman is still galloping along!!

Aloha
