you just answered your own question.

it's exactly because there won't be much per-unit profit to be made that there isn't a company that will sell a forced induction kit for that cheap.

no matter how much you want/are led to believe that a company supports the community, if there's little to no money to be made with a specific market segment (say, in this case, the 2is aftermarket segment), they're not going to get into it.

this isn't to say that it's not possible, but i wouldn't spend the time daydreaming.

And honestly, not that many more people would spend $4,000 on a 50 hp supercharger kit than would spend $6000.

And LMS sold about 5 of those ever.

Very true. Definitely not the best bang for the buck modification. But most people who get supercharged are going for a full-race mod or generally are more performance-oriented owners who want to extract every bit of power even if it is expensive to do so. Most owners who drive ISx50 usually go for bolt-ons and they are happy. Also, having a supercharger also has a bling factor and differentiate themselves from others. Just my 2 cents

i do not believe it would cost any company 4k-6k to just produce a SC kit or Turbo kit.... i would say 1k at most to manufacture. so, i believe companies can actually make a lot of profit on a kit...

let's see...

R&D costs... marketing costs... operating costs... you get the idea?

by the time you add these costs onto the turbo kit, you can see that it doesn't cost "just" $1k to manufacture/produce/retail a forced induction kit.

case in point, if your logic actually held up, why do you think LMS no longer retails their supercharger kit for the 2is? and why do you think no one else has even attempted to retail a forced induction kit for the 2is?

i'll even take that a step farther and ask this: do you think that those of us in here pieced out their own kit paid "just" $1k?

there's nothing wrong with wanting a forced induction kit, i get that. but on the other hand there's something to be said about making assumptions based on how you think the real world works.

Procharger's smaller SC unit runs about $2500, Voetech's run about $2300 and the Rotrex is about $2200. I know shops can gets hese cheaper but they don't get hugh break unless you buy more than 3 or 4 units. Like projectdna said add, R&D costs... marketing costs... operating costs and other parts $4500+
