640rwhp at 19psi, Th400 w/ unlocked converter
Hi Gents,
I'm paying more attention to my car finally. Darin from Titan gave the car a little pressure today and it's outstanding! There's more in it no doubt, especially in the mid range, but even still the car pulls great by just rolling your foot forward. This is through a Th400, 3400 stall, unlocked converter. Built Toyota 4.7L 2uzfe.
Here are the dyno sheets.
9psi low boost:
19psi new boost:
More to come

Good to see that you are getting everything back together for the new year. I hear someone also has a built 2UZ now. Did you talk with him?

For those unfamiliar the turbo-hydramatic 400 transmission will reduce recorded RWHP over a stock automatic due to its heavier components. An unlocked torque converter will further reduce the recorded RWHP. The 640rwhp registered could be around 700rwhp with a lighter transmission and locked converter. Obviously this build is targeting even higher numbers and the ability to run hard. This car is not only great looking it backs it up in the power department. The larger engine will also make it more powerful (under the curve) and more drivable/usable than a similar peak power but smaller displacement engine such as the 2JZ-GTE. Nice work.
Do you plan to take it to the strip?

Jbrady has it spot on, the Th400 looses a good bit of power. I'm under the understanding that just turning the oil pump takes as much as 30HP at speed. The upshot of the 400 though is it's strength, and that's it's just so easy to drive. With the relatively low 3400 stall, it feels more connected to the engine than expected. Most '400s I've been in/been exposed to feel like a wallowy slush box. Given that it drans as much HP as it does, on a manual I would guess to say that it would be ~700-720rwhp? That just armchair racing of course, but I think it's round about right.
No plans for the strip yet, for now I need to do a little more to the engine to gain back even more low and midrange. As it sits though, the car bursts forward with just a rap of the throttle. Nice
Thanks gents!

I run Q16 full time. I ran pump gas in my old white car 24/7 and after a whil ethe white car looked tired and ragged. Running race gas full time keeps me from driving the car as much as I'd like to, and as a consequence, after 15 months the paint is new and without rock chips. I asked Darin how the motor was respoinding to the boost as it was turned up and his response was that it was good. Next time we tune, we're going to turn it up to 25psi and push it over 800rwhp. On a Th400 that's plenty. Plus the two bolt main is still in the back of my mind.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Oh ok, that trans must be really robbing a lot more power than I thought because I expect a TT V8 to put out more power at 19psi on Q16. Well hope to see some bigger numbers eventually with 30 plus pounds of boost. Either way still a unique setup, body work looks flawless.
