Well, since no GS owners are jumping in.

Here are my best slips on my 99 LS400.

Best 1/8 = 9.23 ET @ 77.95mph

Perfect racing conditions, 45 degrees, sea level, high pressure 30.4 in/hg

Cold air mod

No extra weight in car, no spare, jack, junk, 1/4 tank gas, no rear mufflers (no power just weight).

Driver mod

Without LSD and on stock 225/60-16 Dunlaps launching was tough. With trac off if a tire broke loose more than just a little it would spin hard. With the drive by wire this meant completely off the throttle and run was toast.

With better traction I could have cut a 2.0 60ft time giving me an honest 13 second slip (9.0 in 1/8th, 13.9 in 1/4)

Car now has free LSD mod and I am FINALLY going to install headers followed by some tuning. Hope to see the 13s this fall/winter.

Sure.

As the differential case accumulates miles the spyder gears wear into the case and increase friction which results in a higher threshold before the differential action occurs IN A STRAIGHT LINE UNDER HARD ACCELERATION ONLY.

This is why so many older Lexus V8 cars will spin/burn both rear tires when in fact the factory installed ONLY standard differentials prior to the IS-F (optional on the IS-300).

So, the free LSD mod is simply... miles driven You may already have it. Go do a test burn out and see for yourself.

Here is a visual on the result(s) of the "free lsd" mod.

It is much harder to spin when both tires are gripping.

Not to get way too off topic, sorry op. But this is interesting John. This makes perfect sense on why some people.. including myself thought that some GS's came with a factory LSD.

Nice burn out. I tried mine and its one wheel wonder!!

Brian (Sakataj). Did you ever get the broken pumpkin examined and find a true LSD unit in it?

lol...no, i have NEVER opened it. if i get some time i will try and open it this week, although im not sure what i'll be looking for besides some broken teeth or gears.

i know the broken diff wasnt the oem one, my mileage was pitiful, my governor topped off at 122 and all these were signs of having the supra tt diff

keep in mind when i bought my car it only had 62k on it so i dunno if it was enough miles to do that.
