a TRD/Tom's workshop/dealer in my country has already fitted about twenty IS250s (we dont get the 350 here) with a newly released Tom's piggyback ECU module. It fools the factory ECU by manipulating the air intake sensor. Not sure if its available in the US or if it will work with the american IS250s but who knows? No wire splicing, tapping 02 sensor leads, or stuff like that required, it hooks up to factory wiring only, without any funny business. basically a plug/unplug solution

you get an additional 20hp from the chip. cost is approximately 800USD after currency conversion

i am unsure if the ecu for our cars are jdm or usdm versions.

So they're selling the same scam 50 cent resistor they sell on Ebay, set up for plug-n-play operation... and charging $800 for it.

That's pretty funny.

Oh, it won't give you 20 hp either.

It's just lying to your ECU about how cold your intake air is. At part throttle the O2s'll tune its impact out in fairly short order.

Wow...holy preconcieved notion batman. Last i heard a proper manufacturer like Tom's didnt make rebadged 50 cent resistors like the crap you get on ebay. I stand waiting to be corrected though. Believe me when i say i'm not trying to be argumentative, but have you even seen or touched or used the piggyback? At least i test drove one with the ecu installed and compared to my bone stock 09 is250, there was a marked difference. Both my car and the car i tested had the f-sport suspension, everything else was bone stock.

I will have to call out Kurtz on that as well. Tom's would not make something that is useless.

Sure they do.

The linear throttle thing they sell for example.

You can get the same effect yourself, free, by pushing the gas pedal harder.

All their device does is lie to your ECU about how far you pushed the gas pedal.

TRD sells lots of useless crap that doesn't actually make your car any faster too.

The original poster is the one who described the device and said it costs $800.

Based on HIS description, it's doing the same thing the 50 cent resistor is doing (and it's not a good idea to even do this in first place for 50 cents, let alone $800).

If you have any more information or evidence that this device does anything more than the 50 cent resistor mod, please provide it. Because I'm unaware of anything you can do to the IAT sensor other than what the resistor mod does, since it's only providing one bit of info to the ECU in the first place. It can certainly appear to add some little bit of power, for a short period of time, however. This is why most of the ebay sellers don't have piles of negative feedback....but your O2s will tune the changes it makes back out in short order for part throttle driving anyway.

This is true, but my qualm with the traditional automatic is the torque converter. A fluid turbine just doesn't make for a fun drive. The new automatics that use a dual clutch setup are the same as a manual when it comes to engine connection. A dual clutch gearbox can shift faster than a human and maintains the solid link between engine and transmission. The clutch pedal is fun, but I can see it going away in the next 20+ years.

I would gladly take an 8-speed dual clutch with paddle shifters over 6 speeds with a third pedal.
